Job description

Role scope

Leads product strategy and portfolio management for Crop Nutrition and Industrial Minerals, including SKU management, raw material monitoring, margin optimization, and cost reduction.

Owns the Stage Gate process for the Crop Nutrition and Industrial Minerals businesses.

Acts as a strategic liaison between the business and support functions on commercial, new business, and product development initiatives.

Product portfolio management

  • Develop and manage the regional product portfolio in alignment with global strategy and growth objectives.

  • Review product lifecycle and portfolio performance to identify products to promote or rationalize and opportunities for new products.

  • Standardize regional portfolios, specifications, and raw material supplies to leverage manufacturing and optimize sourcing.

  • Refine product service-level requirements with Sales and Marketing for Supply Chain implementation.

  • Approve new raw materials, products, and packaging; ensure product master data accuracy.

  • Support CSR efforts and related product development and mitigation initiatives.

Stage-gate coordination

  • Manage the new business development process and determine which projects enter Stage Gate.

  • Develop the Stage Gate calendar and ensure teams understand and use the process tools.

  • Facilitate and attend gate meetings; coordinate project teams and support-function alignment.

  • Ensure teams apply project management to gated and non-gated development initiatives.

  • Establish project volume, revenue, and margin thresholds with business management.

  • Ensure gate packages are prepared and distributed on time.

Margin optimization and travel

  • Maintain product cost benchmarks and analyses across North American sites and global competitors, coordinating with regional counterparts.

  • Develop cost optimization projects, including raw material or supplier qualification, make-or-buy decisions, and technology or process improvements.

  • Coordinate with functions such as DAMPE, R&D, Operations, and Supply Chain to execute plans.

  • Make disposition decisions for non-performing stock and support proactive and reactive inventory management.

  • Regional travel may be required, approximately 15%.

Qualifications And Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Supply Chain, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, or another related area; an MBA is a plus.

  • At least 5 years of experience in portfolio management, product development, and new business development.

  • Demonstrated financial acumen and understanding of project valuation calculations.

  • Strong written, oral, and presentation skills, including representing the company at customer or end-user events.

  • Excellent project management and organizational skills; able to manage multiple complex projects in a fast-paced environment.

  • Experience with value chain analysis, product and technology roadmapping, product segmentation, competitive analysis, and marketing best practices.

  • Cultural awareness and willingness to travel regionally.
