Thompson Retractor has an opportunity for a

Product Manager.

The

Product Manager

is responsible for identifying new product opportunities through the collecting and analyzing of user, market, and company needs. The product manager represents the voice of the customer internally and actively seeks out VOC feedback from our users. Additionally, the Product Manager is responsible for project management of new product development programs from ideation to commercialization. The Product Manager executes product launches, monitors competitors, organizes and performs internal product and competitor training, and assists the sales team with product-related questions. The Product Manager mentors Associate Product Managers. Travel is required to tradeshows, surgery, and lab settings both for upstream product development and downstream customer support.

Responsibilities:

  • Identify opportunities to expand Thompson’s product line to meet user, market, and company needs

  • Gather Voice of Customer (VOC) feedback and assess for trends, report out summaries of newly launched product feedback

  • Serve as an internal voice of the customer to internal teams, and seek out voice of customer feedback from our surgeon users

  • Execute the product development process of new projects during user needs and design input definition.

  • Execute project management of new projects through to commercialization with a design engineer as the technical lead

  • Prioritize projects at the direction of the Senior Product Manager, shifting timelines & priorities as required

  • Develop project plans and timeline for new programs and gain cross functional input for the success of the system

  • Collaborate with surgeons who bring product ideas, design inputs, and feedback to Thompson.

  • Collaborate with OEM customers who bring product ideas to Thompson through the development process

  • Research and organize competitor pricing, strategy, and products and regularly share with Sales, Engineering, and Product Management.

  • Assist with product launch training for sales, and creation of internal clinical procedural training

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years of experience in: product management and/or medical device engineering, product management, or sales

  • Prior Medical Device experience strongly preferred

  • Prior demonstrated project management experience preferred

  • Excellent communication (written and verbal) and presentation skills

  • Strong problem solving, creative, research, and critical thinking skills

  • Maintains composure and professionalism under all circumstances

  • Able and willing to motivate and mentor new team members

  • Understand project details but able to keep the “big picture” of projects and priorities in the forefront

Who you might be:

  • A current product manager at a medical device company looking to make a change – preferred background in the same space as us: Spine, Orthopedics, general surgery, cardiothoracic

  • A med device sales representative with experience in the same procedural fields as Thompson looking to make a move to corporate role – preferred experience with some corporate level product or project management to come in at this level vs entry

  • A current product manager in a non-medical field looking to make a shift into medical device

  • An engineer, project manager, inside sales, clinical training professional at a medical device company looking to move into product management
