General Summary

This position works as part of a team which performs general accounting and administrative tasks for the Electric Power Division. You will be responsible for underground utility locates, bid management assistance/backup, labor & equipment time processing, job cost analysis, customer invoicing, and general accounting duties.

Principal Accountabilities

  • Works with a small team to provide underground utility locates for job sites. Requires exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy, as precise utility identification and marking are critical to job site safety and project success.

  • Serve as backup to the department bid manager, learning all bid-related tasks to seamlessly cover for absences and vacations.

  • Responsible for weekly divisional payroll time and equipment review and processing.

  • Performs weekly and monthly customer T&E, lump sum, and unit invoicing. Includes investigating exceptions, creating spreadsheets, verification of job costs, and reconciliation of billable hours with actual payroll and equipment hours

  • Set up jobs in COINS, ensuring customer information, payroll union, billing rates, and job type are correct and consistent with PO information.

  • Reviews customer purchase orders daily and distributes them to the appropriate project management and accounting personnel to ensure timely processing and project execution.

  • Assist with the tracking and reporting of project financial performance including hours, costs, revenue, contract value, and margins.

  • Assists with allocating fuel charges to appropriate projects.

  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Skills

and Abilities Required:

  • Experience: At least 1 year of accounting experience preferred

  • Education: Minimum 2-year college degree in Accounting or similar background

  • Proven Ability: Must be comfortable with reading maps and communicating directions accurately. Ability to proofread documents and accurately prepare various reports.

  • Technical Skills: Proof-read documents, prepare accurate reports, proficient in spreadsheet software applications.

  • Behavioral Skills: Excellent team skills, strong attention to detail, clear communication, and problem-solving skills.

Description Of Physical Working Environment

  • Normal office environment. Routinely works from a sitting position with a computer. Repetitive typing and computer use is required. Regular bending, twisting, and light lifting are common.

  • May require lifting of supply boxes or materials up to 30 lbs.
