Job description

Electrical Project Manager

Step Off the Tools and Build Your Project Management Career

Australian Citizenship Required, AGSVA Clearance Eligibility Essential

To be considered for this position, you must be an Australian Citizen and eligible to obtain an AGSVA security clearance. Applicants who do not meet these requirements will not be considered.

Are you working across electrical projects as a Foreman, Supervisor, Site Manager, Project Coordinator or Junior Project Manager and ready to take the next step?

This opportunity is designed for someone with a strong electrical foundation who wants to build a long term career in project management.

You'll join an established project delivery team, take ownership of smaller electrical and communications projects, and receive hands on mentoring, on the job development and support towards relevant project management training and certifications.

You don't need to be the finished product. The focus is on finding someone with the right electrical knowledge, commercial foundations and ambition who can be developed into a capable Project Manager.

The Opportunity

You'll initially manage smaller, ad hoc electrical and communications projects, typically valued in the hundreds of thousands, allowing you to build experience across the full project lifecycle.

Projects are delivered across a diverse range of industries, including:

* Defence

* Government

* Banking and Financial Services

* Not for Profit

* Commercial environments

You'll develop experience across project planning, quoting, financials, procurement, subcontractor management, client engagement and delivery.

As your capability grows, so will the size and complexity of the projects you manage.

What You'll Be Doing

* Managing smaller electrical and communications projects from planning through to completion

* Preparing and supporting project quotes and estimates

* Developing your understanding of project budgets, costs and financial performance

* Coordinating electricians, subcontractors, suppliers and project stakeholders

* Supporting procurement, scheduling and project planning

* Building relationships with clients across a variety of industries

* Maintaining project documentation and reporting

* Ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently and in line with client requirements

* Gradually taking ownership of larger and more complex projects as your experience develops

Training, Certifications & Career Progression

This is a genuine development opportunity for someone looking to progress their career.

You'll receive hands on mentoring and on the job training from experienced Project Managers, giving you the support to transition from a technical or site focused background into end to end project management.

Where additional project management courses, qualifications or certifications would support your development, the business is prepared to provide the time and support required to undertake them.

The longer term pathway is clear, develop into an independent Project Manager and progress into more senior PM opportunities, managing larger, higher value and increasingly complex projects.

For someone currently working closer to the tools or site delivery, this is an opportunity to turn your electrical experience into a long term project management career.

What We're Looking For

You could currently be working as a:

* Junior Project Manager

* Project Coordinator

* Electrical Foreman

* Electrical Supervisor

* Site Manager

You'll ideally bring:

* A strong electrical trade or technical background

* Experience across electrical and/or communications projects

* An understanding of project financials, particularly quoting, estimating and project costs

* Experience coordinating trades, subcontractors, suppliers or project activities

* Strong communication and stakeholder management skills

* An interest in developing your commercial and project management capability

* The ambition to progress into a more senior Project Manager position

What's On Offer

* Competitive base salary + superannuation + car allowance

* Structured mentoring from experienced Project Managers

* Hands on project management experience

* Support towards relevant project management courses, qualifications and certifications

* Exposure across Defence, Government, financial services, not for profit and commercial projects

* A genuine pathway into a more senior Project Manager position

* The opportunity to build both technical and commercial project management experience

If you have built a strong foundation in the electrical industry and are looking for an opportunity that will invest in your development, qualifications and progression, this is an excellent opportunity to take the next step.

IMPORTANT: Australian Citizenship is mandatory. You must also be eligible to obtain an AGSVA security clearance. Applicants who are not Australian Citizens or are not eligible to obtain an AGSVA security clearance will not be considered.
