Job description

Project Manager | Commercial Construction

Interesting projects. Well-resourced teams. Genuine autonomy.

We’re partnering with an established commercial construction business with a strong reputation for quality delivery, long-standing client relationships and a supportive team culture.

With a diverse portfolio of new builds and complex refurbishment projects across the private commercial, government, & education sectors, this business offers something different from the repetitive project work found elsewhere in the market.

The company is continuing to grow, with a strong pipeline of work and an increasing focus on Early Contractor Involvement and Design & Construct projects. Importantly, growth is being managed carefully to maintain the culture, quality and team environment that have contributed to its success.

The Opportunity

We’re seeking an experienced Project Manager to take ownership of commercial construction projects from pre-construction through to practical completion and handover.

You’ll work closely with an experienced leadership team and a well-resourced project delivery team, giving you the support to focus on project performance, commercial outcomes, stakeholder relationships and successful delivery.

Projects typically range from $20m up to $65 million.

Why Consider This Opportunity?

This business offers the structure and systems of an established commercial builder while retaining the flexibility and accessibility of a privately owned operation.

You won’t be dealing with unnecessary management layers or spending your time navigating corporate processes. Instead, you’ll have direct access to senior decision-makers, the ability to influence project outcomes and the autonomy to manage your projects effectively.

What sets this opportunity apart?

  • Interesting project portfolio: A genuine mix of new builds and refurbishments across commercial and government sectors.

  • Strong project resourcing: Larger projects may have multiple Site Managers and Supervisors, dedicated HSEQ support, Senior Contract Administrators, Contract Administrators and Cadets.

  • Experienced pre-construction team: Dedicated expertise across estimating, design management, bid management and pre-construction.

  • Modern systems: Established construction management platforms supporting project controls, documentation and reporting.

  • Genuine autonomy: Fewer management layers, quicker decisions and direct access to senior leadership.

  • Career development: Join a growing business where good people can take on greater responsibility as the project pipeline expands.

What's on Offer?

  • Up to $250,000 + super + vehicle, depending on experience.

  • Potential exposure to larger and more complex projects as the business grows.

  • A flexible approach to working between the office, site and home where practical.

  • Modern systems and well-established project delivery processes.

  • Regular team events and a strong social culture.

  • A stable business with a strong reputation in the market and an ongoing pipeline of work.

About You

You’ll be an experienced Project Manager with a solid background in commercial construction and the ability to confidently manage projects across their full lifecycle.

You’ll be commercially astute, organised and comfortable leading project teams, managing client expectations and making decisions to keep projects moving.

To be successful, you will ideally have:

  • Proven experience delivering commercial construction projects as a Project Manager.

  • Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, or similar tertiary qualifications.

  • Strong knowledge of project financials, procurement, contracts and programming.

  • Experience leading multidisciplinary project teams and subcontractors.

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

  • A proactive approach to problem-solving, risk management and project delivery.

  • A strong understanding of construction methodologies, quality and safety requirements.

  • The ability to build productive relationships with clients, consultants and subcontractors.

Above all, we’re looking for someone who takes ownership, values teamwork and wants to contribute to a business where quality and culture matter most.
