Job description

Project Manager | Fire Protection & Construction Projects | Join Firerite Services

Looking for your next project management opportunity?

Firerite Services is looking for a capable, commercially minded Project Manager to join our Brisbane team and take ownership of fire protection installation projects from planning through to completion.

You don’t need to come from the fire industry.

If your background is in construction, building services, mechanical, electrical, plumbing or another trade environment, and you know how to coordinate people, budgets, programs and clients, we’d like to hear from you.

You’ll be joining an established Brisbane business with more than 30 years in the fire protection industry and a team experienced in delivering major construction and installation projects.

What you’ll be doing

You’ll take responsibility for the complete project lifecycle, from initial handover and planning through to commissioning and completion, including:

  • Project planning and mobilisation: Review scope, specifications, drawings and contractual requirements, establish deliverables and plan the project from commencement through to handover.

  • Programming and scheduling: Develop and manage project programs, milestones, site requirements and deadlines, adjusting resources and priorities as projects progress.

  • Budget and commercial management: Establish and manage budgets across labour, materials, equipment and subcontractors, monitor actual costs against budget and identify potential overruns early.

  • Procurement and materials: Coordinate purchasing and delivery of materials and equipment to align with project requirements and construction programs.

  • Labour and subcontractor coordination: Plan and coordinate technicians, trades and subcontractors to ensure the right resources are available at each stage of the project.

  • Site coordination: Maintain a hands-on understanding of site progress, coordinate with builders and other trades, resolve installation issues and keep works moving.

  • Client and stakeholder management: Work closely with clients, builders, consultants, suppliers, subcontractors and other project stakeholders throughout delivery.

  • Variations and scope changes: Identify, price, document and manage variations and changes to project scope, including their impact on cost and program.

  • Technical and compliance coordination: Ensure works are delivered in accordance with project specifications, approved designs, relevant Australian Standards and regulatory requirements.

  • Project documentation: Manage RFIs, drawings, approvals, project correspondence, compliance documentation and progress reporting.

  • Quality and risk management: Monitor quality and workmanship, identify project risks early and coordinate practical solutions before they impact delivery.

  • Progress claims and invoicing: Monitor project progress against financial milestones and coordinate progress claims, invoicing and subcontractor costs.

  • Testing and commissioning: Coordinate system testing, commissioning, inspections, defect rectification and certification requirements.

  • Project handover and close-out: Manage practical completion, as-built information, certifications, manuals, outstanding variations, defects and final project documentation.

Our projects cover a range of fire protection systems including sprinklers, hydrants, fire detection, alarms and associated systems, across major construction and installation projects.

What we’re looking for

You’ll ideally bring:

  • Project management or construction delivery experience

  • Experience coordinating trades, subcontractors and suppliers

  • Strong commercial awareness and confidence managing project costs

  • The ability to read and work from construction documentation, specifications and project programs

  • Strong organisational and planning skills

  • Confident communication with clients, builders, consultants and subcontractors

  • A practical, hands-on approach to problem solving

  • The ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines

  • Strong attention to detail and accountability for project outcomes

  • A genuine focus on getting projects finished properly

Fire protection experience is certainly welcomed, but it isn’t essential.

Attitude, project capability and relevant construction experience are equally important to us. If you already know how to run projects, coordinate trades and keep a construction program moving, we can help you build your knowledge of the fire protection industry.
