Job Title : Property Accountant I
Reports To : Property Accountant
Pay : Dependent on experience; Pay range $18/hr-$20/hr
Position Summary:
The Property Accountant 1 is responsible for all on-property cash handling, deposit preparation, and payment processing activities. This role ensures strict adherence to cash control procedures, accurate recording of receipts, and timely deposit of funds. The position operates independently from revenue audit and accounts receivable functions to maintain proper internal controls. The position will be cross trained on overseeing revenue validation, group and catering billing, and Accounts Receivable functions for the property, if needed.

Key Responsibilities:

Oversee daily cash handling procedures across all departments

Audit property ATMs, coin operated washers, and cash machine

Ensure accurate and timely preparation of bank deposits

Verify cash counts, cashier banks, and drop procedures

Monitor compliance with cash handling policies

Process and record incoming payments (cash, checks, credit cards)

Coordinate with Property Accountant to ensure proper application of payments

Maintain documentation for all deposits and transactions

Reconcile daily cash receipts to system totals

Investigate and resolve cash variances
-
Assist with bank-related reconciliations as assigned

Maintain strong internal controls over cash

Identify and report discrepancies or control issues
Qualifications:
-
2-4 years of progressive cash handling or accounting experience, with hospitality industry experience strongly preferred.

Proficiency in accounting systems and Microsoft Excel

Experience with PMS and POS systems and cash controls
-
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.

Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with other departments

Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy and excellence
Physical Requirements:
Prolonged periods sitting and standing at a desk and working on a computer.
Must be able to lift up to fifteen (15) pounds at times
