Job Overview
We are seeking a highly motivated, hands-on, solution-oriented, results-driven Quality Control Technician to join our manufacturing team. The position is primarily based at our New York manufacturing facility, though it may require occasional travel within the U.S. for projects.
The ideal candidate will ensure that our precast concrete products are manufactured, inspected, tested, documented, and released in accordance with applicable project timelines and specifications, shop drawings, ASTM standards, DOT requirements, customer requirements, and company quality procedures.
This position is ideal for a hands-on QC professional with a strong understanding of precast production and products, who can interpret engineering drawings, possesses excellent communication skills, is willing to travel throughout the United States, as needed, to support projects, inspections, production facilities, and customer requirements, and is passionate about upholding exceptional quality standards and customer service.

Key Responsibilities
-
Review and interpret shop and production drawings, specifications, and project requirements.

Verify dimensions, reinforcement, embeds, openings, hardware, connections, and other critical product features.

Monitor production processes to ensure compliance with approved drawings and specifications.

Perform or coordinate concrete quality-control testing and documentation.
-
Verify raw materials and production documentation as required.

Identify nonconforming products and coordinate corrective actions and repairs.
-
Perform in-process and final inspections of precast concrete products.
-
Prepare inspection reports, test records, material certifications, and other QC documentation.

Maintain accurate and traceable quality records.

Collaborate and communicate quality issues promptly and clearly to Production, Engineering, Project Management, and customers.

Support root-cause investigations and corrective/preventive actions.

Participate in customer, agency, and third-party inspections.

Ensure products are properly identified, marked, documented, and released prior to shipment.

Support quality-control activities at various Roman Stone and project locations.

Ability to travel throughout the United States as required to support company operations and projects.

Promote a quality-at-the-source culture by identifying potential issues before products leave production.

Serve as a primary point of contact to ensure timely, accurate communication, updates, change orders, and business or quality needs.

Stay informed and share knowledge about industry trends, market conditions, and competitors’ activities.

Act proactively and responsibly as a timely problem-solver with strong project management skills and a results-driven approach, meeting deadlines without compromising best practices.

Support and adhere to the company’s initiatives, policies, practices, and strategic goals, including acquiring and enforcing the proper use of all necessary PPE.

Performs a variety of other duties as required or assigned.
Qualifications

Proven experience in quality control or quality assurance within a manufacturing environment, preferably in precast manufacturing.

Demonstrated knowledge of concrete production, reinforcement, formwork, casting, curing, finishing, and repair processes.

Experience with concrete testing, dimensional inspection, reinforcement inspection, and product certification.

Excellent analysis skills with the ability to interpret data accurately and identify trends or issues promptly.

Experience conducting quality audits and implementing corrective actions effectively.

Ability to read and interpret engineering and shop drawings.
-
Experience with applicable ASTM, ACI, DOT, and project-specific specifications.

Must be detail-oriented, skilled in time management, able to make sound, decisive business decisions, able to identify dimensional, structural, and workmanship deficiencies, and demonstrate a sense of urgency in work habits.

Demonstrated ability to properly document inspection findings and make recommendations as needed.

This position involves working with internal and external clients and requires a demonstrated ability to interact professionally and effectively with all levels.

Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Proficiency with CRM software, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office Suite.

Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel throughout the U.S., with the ability to work in both manufacturing facilities and outdoor project environments under varying environmental conditions.

Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information and situations, and to use discretion and sound judgment appropriately when dealing with management, employees, vendors, contractors, government agencies, and clients.

Must be a self-starter with the ability to manage multiple assignments simultaneously.

Experience working with NYSDOT, NJDOT, NYCDDC, NYCDEP, Con Edison, or other transportation/utility/public-agency specifications preferred.

Requires occasional work outside regular hours to achieve job goals.

Physical and Environmental Requirements
While performing the duties of this position, the individual is often required to stand, walk, climb, sit, use hands to grasp or grip objects, reach and stretch with hands and arms, maintain balance, stoop, crouch, or work in tight or awkward positions, and perform repetitive motions.
This person may occassionally lift and/or move more than 50 pounds.
This position requires specific visual abilities, including close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Generally, this role may require time spent driving and working in manufacturing environments. While performing duties, the individual may be exposed to a variety of temperatures, odors, moving mechanical parts, and vehicular traffic. The individual may also encounter frequent loud noise, typical of manufacturing or plant operations.
