Job description
Position Summary
We are looking for an experienced Quantity Surveyor specializing in Joinery, Interior Fit-Out, and Finishing Works to manage quantity take-offs, estimation, BOQ preparation, tendering, procurement, cost control, variations, valuations, and final accounts.
The ideal candidate should have strong practical knowledge of custom joinery and interior finishing works, including wardrobes, kitchens, cabinets, doors, wall paneling, reception counters, veneer, HPL, laminate, solid surface, glass, ceilings, flooring, painting, wallpaper, and other architectural finishes.
The candidate must be capable of accurately interpreting architectural, interior design, and joinery shop drawings, preparing detailed quantity take-offs and cost estimates, analyzing supplier/subcontractor quotations, and monitoring project costs from tender stage through project completion.
Key Responsibilities

Prepare detailed quantity take-offs from architectural, interior, and joinery drawings.

Prepare accurate BOQs, cost estimates, rate analysis, and tender submissions.

Measure and price joinery, fit-out, and finishing works.

Review drawings, specifications, scope of work, and finish schedules.

Prepare estimates for custom joinery, cabinetry, doors, wardrobes, kitchens, wall paneling, counters, and furniture.

Prepare quantities and estimates for finishing works including flooring, ceilings, painting, wallpaper, glass, mirrors, stone, metal, and decorative finishes.

Obtain and evaluate supplier and subcontractor quotations.

Prepare quotation comparison sheets and negotiate rates where required.

Coordinate with Design, Production, Procurement, and Project teams regarding quantities, specifications, and costs.

Monitor project budgets, actual costs, commitments, and profitability.

Identify and evaluate variations, additional works, omissions, and design changes.

Prepare variation quotations and maintain variation logs.
-
Prepare interim valuations, payment applications, and supporting measurement sheets.
-
Review subcontractor/supplier invoices and payment claims.
-
Assist with contractual claims and commercial correspondence.

Prepare and negotiate final accounts.

Maintain accurate cost, contract, procurement, and project records.
-
Identify cost-saving opportunities while maintaining quality and project requirements.
Joinery & Finishing Experience Required
The candidate should have good knowledge of:

Custom and bespoke joinery

MDF, plywood, veneer, HPL, laminate, and solid surface

Cabinets, wardrobes, kitchens, vanities, counters, and reception desks

Wooden doors and frames
-
Wall paneling and decorative timber works

CNC and fabricated joinery

Joinery hardware and accessories

Glass and mirrors

Gypsum partitions and ceilings

Flooring and skirting

Painting and decorative finishes

Wallpaper and fabric finishes

Stone, marble, and tile works

Aluminium, stainless steel, and metal works

Other interior fit-out and architectural finishing works
Qualifications & Experience
-
Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or a related field.

Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in Quantity Surveying/Estimation.

Strong experience in joinery, interior fit-out, and finishing works.
-
Experience with an interior fit-out contractor, joinery company, or construction company is preferred.

Qatar/GCC experience is an advantage.

Strong knowledge of construction drawings, specifications, BOQs, and contracts.

Proven experience in estimation, quantity take-off, cost control, variations, valuations, and final accounts.
Software Skills

PlanSwift or similar quantity take-off software

Microsoft Word

Knowledge of ERP/commercial software is an advantage.
