What you'll be doing

Mid North Coast Integrated Mental Health Alcohol and Other Drugs (IMHAOD) will implement a new Emergency Mental Health & Addiction Assessment Team (EMHAART) service that provides safe and easily accessible pathways aimed at improving consumer outcomes and experiences. The service will provide advice, triage, initial assessment, and referral service to facilitate access to the appropriate mental health or substance use disorders (SUD) services for the people of MNCLHD across their lifespan. MNCLHD has a wide distribution of consumers that have challenges accessing services resulting in the need to refine and centralise โ€˜front-endโ€™ 24/7 referral, access, and entry pathways as a priority to IMHAOD services.

This position will be working in a multi-disciplinary team to deliver MHAOD services to the consumers which include intake, triage and assessment as part of the EMHAART. Practice and promote safe, efficient and effective nursing care that reflects current standards of nursing practices and current Mid North Coast Local Health District policies and procedures.

To work collaboratively with other service providers/agencies to promote assertive and timely service delivery for clients in the provision of holistic evidence-based care in accordance with MNCLHD and Ministry of Health policies and directive.

About You

You are a motivated and experienced Registered Nurse with current registration through the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia and a strong background in delivering high-quality care across outpatient and acute healthcare settings. You combine sound clinical knowledge with a patient-centred approach, ensuring consumers receive safe, timely, and effective care throughout their healthcare journey.

Your advanced assessment and clinical problem-solving skills enable you to confidently manage diverse and complex presentations, make informed decisions, and respond effectively to changing consumer needs. With a strong understanding of Mental Health, Alcohol and Other Drugs (MHAOD) services, you are skilled in conducting frontline intake assessments, triage, and comprehensive consumer evaluations, supporting appropriate care pathways and positive clinical outcomes.

You are an excellent communicator who values collaboration and professionalism in all interactions. Through effective use of clinical information systems and strong written, verbal, and interpersonal skills, you contribute to accurate documentation, coordinated care, and positive therapeutic relationships with consumers, families, and colleagues.

Thriving in multidisciplinary environments, you work collaboratively with healthcare professionals to plan, coordinate, and deliver outcome-focused care that supports recovery and wellbeing. Adaptable, resilient, and committed to clinical excellence, you are flexible in meeting service requirements, including participation in a seven-day rotating roster incorporating night duty and public holidays. With a current driver's licence, you are also able to travel as required to support service delivery across a variety of healthcare settings.
