Registered Nurse- Level 1

About the role

The Registered Nurse provides safe, person-centred nursing care within Citta Clinic, a private specialist and psychiatric clinic. A significant part of the service-delivery role is providing rTMS, esketamine and other modern brain-stimulation treatments, including transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS), together with other treatments and clinical services offered by the Clinic. The position holder is expected to work within their competence, registration, clinic protocols and medical instructions; contribute to consistent clinical practice; and serve as an accessible resource for newer or less experienced staff. No prior experience in rTMS, Esketamine or tDCS is expected. We organise training on site.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver rTMS, Esketamine, tDCS and other treatments offered by the Clinic.

• Complete pre-treatment checks, nursing assessment, observations, monitoring and post-treatment care recognising when clinical concerns require escalation.

• Maintain timely, accurate and clinically meaningful documentation in the electronic medical record

• Administer and score relevant mental health rating scales

• Assist the treating psychiatrist with initial psychiatric assessments by gathering relevant history, completing delegated screening and baseline measures, identifying issues for medical review and supporting treatment planning

• Educate patients and, where appropriate, families or carers about treatment purpose, preparation, expected experience, common adverse effects, safety precautions and the treatment pathway

• Field enquiries from patients, prospective patients and referrers; provide accurate information within role scope; support referral triage and appointment pathways;

• Act as a clinical resource for newer or less experienced nurses and other relevant clinic staff, providing day-to-day support, direction and education in established procedures

• Monitor treatment stock and consumables and related supplies and escalate replenishment; monitor medication stock, storage, expiry, ordering and treatment scheduling requirements in accordance with clinic procedures and applicable medicines controls

About you

• Current unrestricted registration as a Registered Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (AHPRA)

• Demonstrated ability to work safely and appropriately within scope in an outpatient, mental health or comparable clinical setting

• Current basic life support certification

• Strong therapeutic communication and the ability to educate and engage patients, families, referrers and colleagues

• Sound clinical judgement, risk recognition, escalation and documentation skills, including proficiency with electronic medical records

• Organised approach to stock, medication and equipment-readiness processes
