Research Scientist

Role Description

This part-time remote Research Scientist role at Iniciativa Mundial Ingeniería del Futuro (IMIF) focuses on designing and executing research projects that advance innovative engineering solutions and future-focused technologies. Day-to-day activities include developing research plans, conducting literature reviews, collecting and analyzing data, and interpreting results to generate actionable insights. The Research Scientist will prepare technical reports, academic-style papers, and presentations to communicate findings to internal teams and external stakeholders. The role also involves collaborating with multidisciplinary researchers, contributing to grant proposals, and supporting the development of prototypes or models based on research outcomes. The position requires independent work, clear documentation of methods, and regular virtual meetings to align with project goals and timelines.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated ability to design and conduct research studies, including formulating hypotheses, selecting methodologies, and performing data analysis.

• Strong skills in quantitative and/or qualitative analysis, with proficiency in relevant tools (e.g., statistical software, programming languages, or modeling platforms).

• Experience in preparing clear, structured technical documents, reports, and research publications for varied audiences.

• Effective collaboration skills for working in multidisciplinary and remote teams, with the ability to communicate complex concepts clearly.

• Solid organizational and time-management capabilities to handle multiple projects in a part-time setting.

• Advanced degree (Master’s or PhD) in engineering, science, or a related technical field, or equivalent research experience.

• Familiarity with future-oriented engineering topics, innovation frameworks, or technology foresight is highly beneficial.
