About SVI
SVI Technologies is developing advanced FMCW LiDAR and AI-enabled sensing technologies for autonomous robotics, industrial inspection, and defense applications.
Our technology combines high-precision 3D ranging with Doppler velocity and other sensing modalities to enable robotic systems to perceive, localize, and operate in challenging real-world environments.
We are looking for a hands-on Robotics Software Engineer to develop and integrate the real-time software that connects our advanced sensing technologies with autonomous robotic platforms.
The Role
You will work at the intersection of robotics, FMCW LiDAR, sensor fusion, localization, embedded computing, and autonomous systems
.
A key area of development will be integrating LiDAR-derived Doppler velocity with IMU and other sensor data for localization, motion estimation, motion compensation, 3D mapping, and anomaly re-localization—including operation over large or feature-poor surfaces where conventional vision- and feature-based localization techniques can experience drift.
You will also help deploy and optimize SVI's robotics software on NVIDIA Jetson and similar embedded computing platforms
, including GPU acceleration of computationally intensive sensing, perception, and AI workloads.
What You'll Work On
• Develop high-performance robotics and sensor-processing software in C++ and Python
.
• Develop and maintain ROS 2 nodes, interfaces, messaging, and real-time data pipelines.
• Integrate FMCW LiDAR, Doppler velocity, IMUs, cameras, GNSS/GPS, and other sensors into autonomous robotic systems.
• Implement sensor synchronization, calibration, coordinate transformations, and data registration.
• Develop and optimize localization, state estimation, sensor fusion, mapping, and motion-compensation algorithms
.
• Develop and support LiDAR/IMU fusion and Doppler-assisted target-relative localization, motion estimation, mapping, and anomaly re-localization
, particularly in feature-poor environments.
• Develop real-time point-cloud processing, registration, and 3D surface-reconstruction capabilities.
• Interface sensing and perception software with UAVs and other autonomous robotic platforms
.
• Deploy and optimize robotics software on NVIDIA Jetson
, including CUDA/GPU acceleration where appropriate.
• Support laboratory testing, field testing, system demonstrations, and transition of prototype capabilities into operational robotic systems.
What We're Looking For
• B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science, Robotics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field.
• Strong C++ software development skills.
• Experience developing robotic systems using ROS or ROS 2
, with ROS 2 strongly preferred.
• Strong Linux development experience.
• Experience integrating real-time sensors into robotic or autonomous systems.
• Experience with LiDAR, IMUs, cameras, GNSS/GPS
, or similar sensing systems.
• Strong understanding of coordinate frames, rigid-body transformations, timing, synchronization, and sensor calibration.
• Experience with localization, state estimation, sensor fusion, SLAM, mapping
, or related robotic-perception techniques.
• Experience processing 3D point-cloud or spatial sensor data
.
• Working knowledge of Python.
• Strong hands-on debugging and system-integration skills.
Experience That Is a Plus
• NVIDIA Jetson, CUDA, GPU programming, or TensorRT.
• FMCW LiDAR or Doppler-based sensing.
• LiDAR/IMU fusion and inertial navigation.
• EKF, UKF, factor graphs, GTSAM, Ceres, PCL, Open3D, Eigen, or related robotics/3D-processing tools.
• UAV autonomy and flight-control systems, including PX4, ArduPilot, MAVLink
, or similar platforms/protocols.
• FPGA-based embedded systems, including AMD/Xilinx SoC platforms or similar devices.
• PetaLinux
, embedded Linux BSPs, device trees, kernel/device-driver integration, and hardware/software interfaces.
• Bare-metal embedded development
, real-time firmware, or low-level hardware control.
• FPGA development workflows including Vivado/Vitis, HDL-based designs, FPGA/CPU interfaces, and high-throughput sensor-data pipelines
.
• Experience transitioning research algorithms into reliable, field-deployable robotic systems.
• Defense, aerospace, industrial inspection, or other high-reliability robotic applications.
Why SVI
This is an opportunity to work on a new class of sensing technology at the intersection of FMCW LiDAR, robotics, embedded computing, autonomous systems, and AI
.
You'll work directly with advanced sensing hardware and autonomous robotic platforms and play a central role in transitioning next-generation sensing and localization technologies from research and simulation into real-world systems.
