** Role: **

Under general supervision and in accordance with established risk management policies and procedures, the Security Specialist supports the credit union’s physical security, access control, incident response, emergency management, and business continuity programs. This position monitors and coordinates support for alarm systems, security cameras, access control, facility security reviews, incident response, emergency communications, and continuity planning activities. Duties are performed in alignment with The Apple Way principles of Team Up, Serve With Purpose, Challenge Yourself, and Own It, while maintaining awareness of and adherence to applicable credit union policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements, including the Bank Secrecy Act. Performs other duties as assigned.

** Essential Functions & Responsibilities: **

**Physical Security **

  • Conducts physical security audits and inspections of credit union facilities.

  • Manages access control, including issuing and disabling access badges and monitoring visitor access

  • Assists with security investigations, completes incident reports, and supports response to security-related incidents.

  • Assesses and responds to external threats affecting credit union facilities, employees, or operations.

  • Serves as a liaison to law enforcement and external security partners, as appropriate.

**Cameras and Alarms **

  • Monitors security cameras and alarm systems to ensure proper operation and coordinates vendor service calls when issues are identified.

  • Documents monthly branch alarm testing and maintains related records.

  • Investigates, tracks, and reports false alarm activity and related charges.

Business Continuity

  • Provides support to management in developing, maintaining, and testing the organization’s Business Continuity, Pandemic, Disaster Recovery, and Emergency Management Plans.

  • Assists with the development and delivery of security, emergency management, and business continuity training.

**General **

  • Compiles security data, prepares reports, and provides management with timely updates on security trends, incidents, and follow-up activities.

  • Maintains awareness of applicable policies, procedures, and regulatory expectations related to the position, including BSA/AML, OFAC, physical security, privacy, and other requirements relevant to the Security Specialist role.

** Knowledge and Skills: **

**Experience: ** One year to three years of similar or related experience.

**Education: ** A high school education or GED. Some college preferred.

Interpersonal Skills: Ability to work with all levels of management and credit union staff.

Ability to communicate and provide instructions effectively to employees and visitors.

Other Skills: Well-organized, efficient, detail-oriented self-starter, able to work independently.

Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Ability to manage multiple tasks and changing priorities in an efficient and effective manner.

Proficient in MS Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Ability to understand output data logic for reporting.

Physical Requirements: Ability to utilize standard office equipment including, but not limited to, PC, fax, copier, telephone, etc. Ability to lift 25 lbs.

Work Environment: Ability to function in a financial institution office environment. Some local travel to branches is required.
