Job Description
Senior Accountant
Overview
The Senior Accountant will be an integral member of the Accounting team, responsible for key general ledger accounting, month-end close, account reconciliations, financial analysis, and reporting activities across the Company's retail, wholesale, and e-commerce channels. The role will partner cross-functionally to ensure the accuracy and completeness of financial results, maintain strong accounting controls, and identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and reporting.
Responsibilities

Own assigned areas of the month-end close, including preparation and review of journal entries, supporting analyses, and monthly account reconciliations with resolution of all reconciling items.

Own month-end close activities related to several cash accounts including operations, tenders, and disbursements.

Partner with the Accounting Manager to analyze new leases and amendments, maintain the lease accounting system, and ensure lease activity is accurately recorded in accordance with US GAAP, including percentage rent accruals and rent-related reclassifications.

Own assigned lease accounting activities under ASC 842, including maintenance of lease schedules, preparation of related journal entries, and reconciliation of ROU asset and operating lease liability accounts.

Partner with the Accounting Manager in the preparation and review of monthly financial results package, including Income Statement, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow, Gross Margin and other management reporting.

Own the accounting for the Company’s revolving credit facility, including principal activity, interest expense, lender fees, deferred financing costs, related accruals, account reconciliations, and classification of short-term and long-term debt in accordance with US GAAP.

Partner with FP&A, Treasury, AP/AR, Sales Audit, and other Finance teams to analyze general ledger activity, investigate discrepancies, and ensure transactions are accurately recorded.

Support the manager and operational cost center teams within the Corporate G&A and Marketing functions to analyze expenses and prepare necessary adjustments, accruals and reclassifications.

Analyze and explain monthly expense variances versus prior year and forecast/budget, including investigation of significant or unusual activity.

Support year-end financial statement audits through preparation of audit schedules, supporting documentation, and responses to auditor requests.

Identify opportunities to improve, standardize, and automate accounting processes, reconciliations, controls, and reporting.

Other ad-hoc responsibilities as required.
Qualifications

Minimum of three years of relevant accounting experience; public accounting and/or corporate accounting experience preferred.

Experience in retail and/or consumer product industry preferred.

Strong knowledge of US GAAP, including accrual accounting and ASC 842 lease accounting.

Highly organized and analytical. Maintains the highest standards of accuracy and precision.

Articulate, with strong verbal, written and presentation communication skills.

Collaborative team player with a hands-on approach; a roll-up-the-sleeves mentality. Develops professional rapport with colleagues.

Driven and self-motivated, with the ability to take ownership of new responsibilities and work independently.

Ability to work independently with a curious mindset targeted towards efficiency and process improvement.

Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience working with ERP/general ledger systems; Oracle experience strongly preferred. Experience using AI tools such as ChatGPT to support accounting analysis, research, or process improvement is a plus.
Education
BS in Accounting required, CPA preferred, or parts passed.

Estimate Salary Range: $105-115k
Base pay is one component of David Yurman’s total compensation package, which may also include the following for eligible employees: access to healthcare benefits, 401(k) plan, bonus, employee discounts, Summer Fridays (corporate roles), generous paid time off, sick time, and more.
