Responsibilities:

JOB SUMMARY

** This position oversees the daily accounting functions that support Foundation financial activities. Responsibilities include overseeing gift processing, , general ledger accounting and reconciliation, month-end and year-end close activities, audit coordination, preparation of accounting schedules and reports,and ensuring compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), donor intent, IRS regulations, and Foundation policies. The role serves as a key liaison between Finance, Gift Officers, Events, and the hospital system while providing leadership over Foundation accounting functions and internal controls. The position also drives process improvement initiatives, enhances operational efficiency, and supports special financial projects across the Foundation.

As HonorHealth and the Foundation continue to grow, this position will play a key role in identifying, leading, and implementing process improvements that strengthen internal controls, increase operational efficiency, and support the organization's long-term growth.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Acts as a liaison and partners with Foundation Development, Gift Officers, Events, and Hospital Finance operations to support accurate donor reporting, fund activity tracking, and the stewardship of philanthropic funds that benefit the hospital and its patients.

  • Identifies opportunities to improve accounting processes, internal controls, system functionality, and operational efficiencies. Participates in the implementation of process improvements, automation initiatives, and accounting best practices to support the continued growth of HonorHealth and the Foundation.

  • Reviews gift, pledge, and other contribution activity to ensure accurate recording in donor database and general ledger systems while maintaining compliance with donor intent, Foundation policies, and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

  • Performs month-end and year-end accounting activities, including the preparation of journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial analyses to ensure the accurate and timely recording of Foundation financial activity.

  • Prepares reconciliations and cost reporting for fundraising events to ensure expenses are appropriately monitored and proceeds are released timely to the hospital system.

  • Assists with annual financial statement audits and compliance reviews by preparing reconciliations, supporting schedules, requested documentation, and audit analyses.

  • Reviews donor acknowledgments and related documentation to support the timely receipt and recording of gifts and compliance with IRS requirements

  • Assists with annual audits and compliance reviews by providing requested documentation, supporting schedules, reconciliations, and other audit-related materials.

  • Supports special projects, ad hoc reporting, financial analyses and other initiatives as assigned.

EDUCATION

  • Bachelors in Accounting or Finance Required**

** EXPERIENCE

  • 3 years, Public accounting or industry accounting experience Required**

  • Other, Experience with nonprofit, healthcare, fund accounting, or grant accounting Preferred

LICENSE AND CERTIFICATIONS

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) - License, Preferred
