Position Summary

The Senior Accountant plays an important role in maintaining the accuracy and integrity of Hana’s financial records. This position is responsible for general ledger accounting, bank reconciliations, monthly close activities, financial reporting, and account analysis. The Senior Accountant will work closely with members of the Accounting and Finance team and operational leaders across the organization to provide accurate, timely, and meaningful financial information.

What You’ll Do

General Ledger and Monthly Close

  • Perform monthly bank reconciliations and reconcile bank statements to general ledger activity.

  • Prepare and post monthly journal entries, including accruals, adjustments, and reclassifications.

  • Monitor the monthly closing schedule to ensure all required entries and reconciliations are completed accurately and on time.

  • Review general ledger accounts and investigate and resolve discrepancies.

  • Analyze monthly financial results and coordinate necessary corrections or adjustments.

  • Maintain complete supporting documentation for accounting transactions, contract modifications, and related financial activity.

Financial Reporting and Analysis

  • Prepare and distribute internal financial reports, including labor-hour analyses, project financial dashboards, and financial statements.

  • Assist with the preparation and review of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.

  • Review financial data to identify significant variances, trends, and potential reporting concerns.

  • Coordinate with operational and corporate departments to obtain the information needed for accurate and timely reporting.

Compliance and Internal Controls

  • Ensure accounting activities comply with company policies, applicable financial requirements, and established internal controls.

  • Maintain accurate, complete, and audit-ready financial records.

  • Support internal and external audits by preparing schedules and responding to documentation requests.

  • Help identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, reporting accuracy, and efficiency.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the administration and reconciliation of the company’s Verizon Wireless account.

  • Gather and coordinate information required for annual insurance policy renewals, including employee driver abstracts and other supporting documentation.

  • Assist with special projects and other accounting responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements:

Education/ Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

  • At least five years of progressive accounting experience.

  • Strong knowledge of general ledger accounting, bank reconciliations, journal entries, and financial reporting.

  • Experience supporting monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes.

  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and consistently meet deadlines.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience working with accounting or enterprise resource planning systems.

  • Experience in government contracting or a multi-company environment is preferred.

  • CPA or other relevant professional certification is a plus.
