This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Business Systems Analyst Pension Administration Systems based in the United States.

This contract role serves as a critical bridge between pension administration stakeholders and technology teams.

You will support the operation, enhancement, and optimization of an existing pension administration platform and its related business processes.

The role combines business analysis, requirements management, system support, testing, data analysis, and process improvement.

You will work closely with business users, subject matter experts, technical teams, project teams, and software vendors to solve complex operational and system challenges.

Your analysis will help ensure that system changes are accurately defined, thoroughly tested, and aligned with pension business requirements.

You will also identify opportunities to improve efficiency, data quality, automation, controls, and service delivery.

This is a hands-on individual contributor opportunity for an experienced analyst who can independently manage priorities in a fully remote environment.

Accountabilities

  • Gather, analyze, document, validate, and manage business and system requirements through stakeholder interviews, workshops, working sessions, document reviews, surveys, and other elicitation techniques.

  • Translate business needs into clear functional and non-functional requirements, use cases, user stories, acceptance criteria, process maps, and supporting documentation.

  • Facilitate requirements reviews, resolve ambiguities, document decisions, obtain stakeholder approvals, and maintain traceability across business needs, requirements, system changes, testing, defects, and implemented solutions.

  • Provide ongoing business analysis support for the day-to-day operation, maintenance, and enhancement of pension administration systems.

  • Investigate production issues, defects, and enhancement requests by analyzing business processes, system functionality, expected versus actual results, affected processes, examples, and priorities.

  • Collaborate with business users, Information Technology (IT) teams, and software vendors to investigate, resolve, test, and communicate system issues and proposed solutions.

  • Assess the impact of system changes on pension business rules, calculations, workflows, data, correspondence, reports, interfaces, security roles, and operating procedures.

  • Review and validate system configurations and vendor-delivered changes to ensure alignment with approved requirements.

  • Develop test plans, scenarios, detailed test scripts, test data, expected results, and acceptance criteria, and execute functional, system, integration, regression, and User Acceptance Testing (UAT).

  • Document testing evidence, identify and track defects, coordinate retesting, and confirm that implemented solutions satisfy approved requirements and intended business processes.

  • Analyze current-state processes and recommend improvements that increase efficiency, accuracy, operational control, and service quality.

  • Identify opportunities to reduce manual work through enhanced system functionality, workflow improvements, automation, and clearer procedures.

  • Document current-state and future-state processes and support communications, training, procedure updates, and other change-management activities.

  • Perform data analysis to support operations, issue resolution, testing, reconciliations, reporting, and business decisions.

  • Review and validate pension-related data, including member records, service credit, pension calculations, beneficiaries, payments, reports, and interfaces.

  • Participate in system maintenance, upgrades, enhancements, and technology projects, supporting requirements, solution reviews, testing, deployment, post-implementation validation, and operational transition.

  • Coordinate assigned activities across business units, technical teams, and external vendors while communicating risks, issues, decisions, dependencies, and status in a timely manner.

Requirements

  • Hold a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Information Systems, Computer Science, Public Administration, Finance, Accounting, or a related field, or possess an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.

  • Bring at least 3 years of experience in Business Systems Analysis.

  • Have at least 3 years of experience supporting pension administration operations and/or pension administration systems, preferably within a defined benefit retirement system, pension software vendor, benefits administration environment, consulting organization, or related retirement services environment.

  • Demonstrate experience gathering, analyzing, documenting, validating, and managing business and system requirements.

  • Have experience producing process documentation, workflows, use cases, user stories, or comparable business analysis deliverables.

  • Demonstrate experience developing and executing software test plans, test scenarios, and detailed test scripts.

  • Have experience working directly with business stakeholders, subject matter experts, technical teams, and/or software vendors.

  • Possess working knowledge of business analysis methodologies, requirements management practices, and the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).

  • Demonstrate an understanding of pension administration or retirement system operations and the role of pension administration software.

  • Have strong analytical, investigative, organizational, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate complex business rules into clear, complete, and testable documentation.

  • Be able to independently create test scripts and execute tests within business applications.

  • Demonstrate strong written, verbal, facilitation, and interpersonal communication skills.

  • Be able to work independently, manage competing priorities, and collaborate effectively in a fully remote environment.

  • Be proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and process-mapping tools such as Microsoft Visio or equivalent.

  • Experience supporting a public-sector retirement system or public higher education environment is preferred.

  • Experience with defined benefit pension processes, including member enrollment, service credit administration, benefit calculations, retirement processing, beneficiary administration, disability retirement, and survivor benefits is preferred.

  • Experience working with pension administration software platforms, third-party software vendors, data validation and reconciliation, report validation, interface specifications, file layouts, or integration requirements is preferred.

  • Ability to write basic Structured Query Language (SQL) queries or use comparable query and reporting tools is an advantage.

  • Experience participating in software implementation, upgrade, or enhancement projects is preferred.

  • Familiarity with Agile, Waterfall, or hybrid delivery methodologies is beneficial.

  • Certifications such as Certified Business Analysis Professional (CBAP), Professional in Business Analysis (PMI-PBA), Project Management Professional (PMP), Lean Six Sigma, Agile, or Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) are preferred.

  • Be available to work full-time during established business hours and participate effectively in virtual meetings and collaborative activities.

  • Be willing to travel occasionally for stakeholder meetings, training, workshops, conferences, or project-related activities.

  • Be comfortable working as an individual contributor without direct supervisory responsibilities while leading assigned analysis, requirements, testing, issue-resolution, and process-improvement activities.
