Job description

  • Monitor and control project costs across multiple projects from Head Office.

  • Establish and maintain project budgets, cost plans, WBS and CBS.

  • Track Budget vs. Actual Cost vs. Committed Cost.

  • Prepare monthly cost reports, forecasts and management dashboards.

  • Monitor cost variance, trends and cost performance and identify deviations.

  • Prepare Cost Value Reports (CVR) and analyze project financial performance.

  • Monitor project cash flow, expenditure and revenue forecasts.

  • Coordinate with Project Managers, QS, Commercial, Procurement, Planning and Finance teams.

  • Review subcontractor, supplier and procurement commitments against approved budgets.

  • Monitor Variations, Change Orders, Claims and VO costs.

  • Identify potential cost overruns and financial risks and recommend corrective actions.

  • Prepare Estimate at Completion (EAC), Estimate to Complete (ETC) and cost forecasts.

  • Analyze actual productivity and resource costs against planned budgets.

  • Monitor manpower, material, equipment and subcontractor costs.

  • Review project progress and integrate cost with planning/schedule performance.

  • Support preparation and monitoring of project cash flow and payment forecasts.

  • Ensure proper allocation of costs to WBS/CBS and cost codes.

  • Review and validate monthly project cost submissions from site teams.

  • Consolidate cost information from multiple projects for Head Office management reporting.

  • Develop and maintain cost control procedures, templates and reporting systems.

  • Conduct regular cost review meetings with project teams.

  • Provide early warnings to management regarding potential budget overruns.

  • Support tendering and budgeting teams with historical cost data and cost benchmarks.

  • Analyze project profitability and financial performance.

  • Maintain accurate cost records and ensure compliance with company procedures.

Desired Candidate Profile

  • Bachelorโ€™s Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.

  • 10โ€“15+ years of experience in cost control/project controls within the construction industry.

  • Minimum 3โ€“5 years in a Head Office / corporate project controls environment is preferred.

  • Professional certification in Cost Control / Project Controls / PMP is an advantage.

  • Strong knowledge of Primavera P6 and MS Excel; experience with ERP/cost-control software is preferred.

  • Experience managing cost control for multiple construction projects simultaneously.

  • Strong experience in Budgeting, Cost Forecasting, CVR, WBS/CBS, Cost Variance, EAC, ETC and Cash Flow.

  • Experience with Variations, Change Orders, Claims and Subcontractor/Supplier cost control.

  • Experience coordinating with Planning, QS, Commercial, Procurement, Finance and Project teams.

  • Experience in building, road, infrastructure, airport or major civil projects is an advantage.

  • Strong ability to prepare management reports, dashboards and cost-performance analysis.
