Job description

Senior Data Analyst

  • 12-month project

  • SQL query development & data investigation.

  • Kenmore Head Office | Hybrid Working + 5 weeks leave.

Turn complex data into meaningful outcomes.

This is a 12-month project for a highly analytical and SQL confident

Senior Data Analyst

to join a specialist project team supporting our payroll remediation program.

This is not a traditional reporting, dashboard or Power BI role.

You will work with complex workforce and payroll datasets, interpreting legal and business requirements, building SQL queries, validating large volumes of data, and developing robust methodologies that withstand audit and external review.

If you enjoy investigating problems, testing assumptions and uncovering insights hidden within data, this role will provide a unique and challenging opportunity.

About the Role

You will work with the Project Manager and a team of analysts and play a critical role in analysing payroll and workforce data to support remediation activities.

You will assist with translating legal interpretations and business requirements into logical, evidence-based data analysis and calculations.

Key tasks will be:

  • Writing complex SQL queries to investigate and analyse large datasets.

  • Developing and documenting calculation methodologies.

  • Testing, validating and reconciling data outputs.

  • Identifying impacted employee populations through data analysis.

  • Investigating anomalies, exceptions and data quality issues.

  • Collaborating with team members to peer review methodologies and results.

  • Supporting the delivery of data outputs that can withstand audit and external scrutiny.

  • Working closely with project and business stakeholders to ensure analysis is accurate, repeatable and defensible.

About You

You're naturally curious and enjoy solving complex problems.

You know how to interrogate data, challenge assumptions and build methodologies that stand up to scrutiny. You are comfortable working through ambiguity and breaking down complex requirements into logical, data-driven solutions. Ideally you will bring:

  • Advanced SQL capability including data extraction, analysis, validation and testing of complex datasets.

  • Demonstrated ability to translate complex business, regulatory or legal requirements into logical analytical approaches.

  • Experience developing methodologies, calculations or analytical frameworks.

  • Strong testing, reconciliation and data validation skills.

  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving capability.

  • The ability to clearly document assumptions, logic and outcomes.

  • Strong collaboration skills and the ability to work effectively within an analyst team.

Highly regarded, but not essential:

  • Experience within remediation, compliance, audit, risk or regulated environments.

  • Exposure to payroll, workforce, HR or financial datasets.

  • Experience working on large-scale review, assurance or remediation projects.

  • SQL Server, Oracle or similar enterprise data environments.
