About the job

Senior Data Analyst, Customer Analytics | Deraah Retail Group

Position Title: Senior Data Analyst, Customer Analytics Job Type: Full-Time

About the Role:

Deraah Retail Group is looking for a Senior Data Analyst to own Customer

Analytics. The work is to understand how customers behave across every channel, put a number on what each segment is worth, and turn that into action the business can act on and measure.

This is a specialist position. Customer behaviour is what the person in this role works on all day.

The Group runs around 900 stores across Saudi Arabia, Oman, the United Arab

Emirates and Qatar, on a data platform built over ClickHouse with dbt, Airflow,

Power BI and Microsoft Fabric. Customer identity is already resolved across point of sale, e-commerce, the mobile application and the loyalty programme, and the large majority of transactions carry an identified customer. The role reports to the Senior BI Architect, works on site with the commercial, marketing and customer experience teams, and presents directly to executive leadership.

Key Responsibilities:

Own customer segmentation and lifetime value:

Maintain the customer lifecycle segmentation and size the revenue at risk in each stage.

Own identity resolution across channels, including survivorship rules and match accuracy in both directions.

Build lifetime value on margin after discount and returns, and state the assumptions and the uncertainty range.

Give every segment a defined action with a named owner.

Define and analyse churn and retention:

Define churn from observed repurchase behaviour rather than a fixed window, and make that definition the group standard.

Produce cohort and retention analysis by acquisition channel, brand, category and market.

Find what separates the customers who come back from the ones who do not, then size the population worth pursuing.

Measure loyalty and campaign performance:

Measure the loyalty programme on incremental spend against a comparable baseline.

Evaluate offers and campaigns on incremental margin, after removing cannibalisation and demand pull-forward.

Agree the measurement with marketing before a campaign runs, including control groups or holdouts.

Apply data protection regulation to customer analytics:

Work within the Saudi Personal Data Protection Law and the SDAIA framework day to day, on legal basis, consent scope and disclosure control.

Assess every customer data request before it is fulfilled, and offer a compliant route when a request cannot proceed as asked.

Hold minimum cell sizes and generalise quasi-identifiers in published output.

Build and maintain customer models and reporting:

Write and own the SQL and dbt models behind the customer domain.

Build and maintain the Power BI semantic models and reports for that domain, including row level security.

Evaluate the production churn, next best action and price sensitivity models on holdout design, feature leakage and incremental value.

Validate every customer figure before publication and reconcile it against an independent source.

Support decisions and work across teams:

Present findings to commercial, marketing and executive leadership, in Arabic or

English as the audience needs.

Write recommendations that carry an owner, a sized expected effect, a cost and a way to check whether it worked.

Turn the customer KPI catalogue into a signed-off standard, one named business owner and one versioned definition per KPI.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Computer Science, Information Systems,

Engineering, Economics or a related quantitative field.

Five years or more in analytics, of which at least three had customer analytics as the main focus of the role.

Three years or more in retail, e-commerce, telecommunications, banking or another sector with a large individual customer base and repeat purchase.

Advanced SQL against datasets in the tens of millions of rows, and working knowledge of columnar analytical databases.

Experience with an ERP or point of sale retail data structure, and with a loyalty or CRM platform data model.

Dimensional data modelling and star schema design, dbt, Power BI and DAX.

Applied experience of a personal data protection regime, with the ability to reason about legal basis, consent scope and disclosure control.

Experience presenting analysis directly to senior leadership.

The habit of validating data before publishing it, and an eye for a figure that cannot be true.

Preferred Qualifications:

ClickHouse, Microsoft Dynamics 365 and Gameball.

Python for analysis and automation, and Microsoft Fabric.

Experiment design: control groups, matched cohorts, difference in differences.

Perfume, cosmetics or fashion retail, and familiarity with gifting seasonality and the Hijri trading calendar.

Large scale customer record deduplication and survivorship rule design.

Languages:

Arabic - English

Why Join Us?

The data platform at Deraah is already built. Customer identity is resolved across every channel and the behavioural marts exist, so the work starts at analysis instead of at plumbing. You will own the customer domain, work directly with commercial and executive leadership, and be judged on the decisions your analysis changed.
