The Doctors Company is seeking a Senior Data Products & Decision Intelligence Engineer to join our team. This is a hybrid opportunity preferably located at our office in New York City, or any other TDC Group or ProAssurance office location.

The Senior Data Products & Decision Intelligence Engineer is responsible for partnering directly with business stakeholders to design, build, and operationalize data products, decision-support applications, and AI-enabled workflows that improve patient safety, underwriting, claims, risk management, and operational effectiveness. This role combines hands-on engineering, solution architecture, technical leadership, and stakeholder engagement while mentoring junior engineers and establishing engineering standards across the organization. Operating as a forward deployed engineer, this role works directly with business teams to identify opportunities, rapidly develop solutions, and deliver measurable business outcomes.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, or a related technical field.

  • 8+ years of experience in data engineering, software engineering, analytics engineering, decision intelligence, or related technical disciplines.

  • 5+ years of experience designing, building, and supporting production-grade data products, analytical applications, or enterprise software solutions.

Responsibilities

Forward Deployed Engineering & Solution Delivery

  • Personally design, build, deploy, and support production-grade business solutions for priority stakeholder needs.

  • Partner directly with underwriting, claims, patient safety, actuarial, and operational stakeholders to solve business problems.

  • Translate ambiguous business requirements into scalable technical solutions and clear delivery plans.

  • Serve as principal technical contributor on high-complexity initiatives requiring rapid prototyping and operationalization.

  • Own delivery quality for decision intelligence products from discovery through production support.

Data Products, Analytics & AI Enablement

  • Develop governed data products supporting analytics, AI, machine learning, and decision intelligence use cases.

  • Enable operational reporting, predictive analytics, and AI-driven workflows through reusable data and application patterns.

  • Drive measurable business adoption, value realization, and continuous improvement of delivered capabilities.

  • Establish standards for reusable data products, decision-support assets, and stakeholder-facing analytical solutions.

Enterprise Integration & Data Engineering

  • Design and implement scalable integration patterns across enterprise platforms, application systems, and data sources.

  • Build and support data pipelines, event-driven integrations, transformations, and operational data flows.

  • Support AnalyticsNext and other modernization initiatives through reusable engineering patterns and implementation guidance.

  • Maintain architecture and engineering documentation supporting operational continuity and auditability.

Engineering Excellence, Governance & Reliability

  • Establish and maintain software engineering, DataOps, CI/CD, testing, deployment, and support standards.

  • Ensure data quality, lineage, auditability, security, and compliance requirements are embedded in delivered solutions.

  • Create monitoring, observability, operational support, and remediation capabilities for production solutions.

  • Promote reliable, maintainable, and scalable engineering practices across the team.

Other Duties As Assigned

  • Mentor junior engineers through pairing, code reviews, design reviews, documentation, and direct technical coaching.

  • Lead knowledge transfer, engineering best practices, and reusable solution patterns across the team.

  • Participate in various projects to meet TDCG business objectives and provide updates to leadership on assigned projects, as necessary.

Salary Range:

$124,548 - $163,879. Compensation varies based on skills, knowledge, and education. We consider factors such as specialized skills, depth of knowledge in the field, and educational background to ensure fair and competitive pay.
