You will work on-site at a German client, embedded in their team, with niogod’s pod structure supporting you throughout the engagement.

The Role

You will own the data science workstream at a German client site: from understanding messy real-world business data, through modeling and experimentation, to shipping models that run in production. This is a hands-on, client-facing delivery role, not a research position. You will sit with the client’s team daily, present findings to stakeholders, defend your modeling choices and translate business questions into measurable ML problems.

Responsibilities

• Design, build and deploy machine learning models end to end: problem framing, data pipelines, feature engineering, training, evaluation and monitoring in production

• Work directly with the client’s data and business teams to audit data quality, define metrics and set realistic baselines before modeling

• Build and maintain reproducible pipelines (Python, SQL, orchestration tools) that the client’s team can operate after handover

• Communicate results clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders through reports, dashboards and live walkthroughs

• Coordinate with your niogod pod (PM and senior consultant) on scoping, estimation and delivery

• Ensure GDPR-compliant data handling in everything you build

Requirements

• 5+ years of hands-on data science experience with models shipped to production, not just notebooks

• Strong Python (pandas, scikit-learn, PyTorch or TensorFlow) and advanced SQL

• Solid grounding in statistics: experiment design, hypothesis testing, uncertainty quantification

• Experience with at least one cloud platform (AWS, GCP or Azure) and ML deployment patterns (APIs, batch scoring, monitoring)

• Proven track record working directly with business stakeholders and owning outcomes

• Excellent written and spoken English

• Willingness to work on-site in Germany full-time

• Existing authorization to work in Germany (no visa sponsorship provided)

Nice to Have

• German language skills (B1 or above strongly preferred for daily client interaction)

• Experience with LLM applications, RAG pipelines or agentic systems

• MLOps tooling: MLflow, Airflow, dbt, Docker, CI/CD for models

• Prior experience serving European clients and working under GDPR constraints

• Domain exposure to manufacturing, logistics, fintech or healthcare (common DACH verticals)
