DESIGN ROLE – NOT SITE / TESTING & COMMISSIONING

We are expanding our

Substation Design Team in Dubai

and are looking for an experienced Electrical Design Engineer specializing in

HV/EHV Substation Primary Systems

.

The successful candidate should have hands-on engineering design experience and be capable of independently developing and reviewing substation primary designs.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Perform

HV/EHV substation primary design

for AIS and GIS substations.

• Prepare and review

Single Line Diagrams (SLD)

and primary system configurations.

• Develop

equipment layouts / General Arrangement (GA)

and ensure required electrical clearances.

• Perform

primary equipment sizing and selection

, including:

• Power Transformers

• GIS / AIS

• Circuit Breakers

• Disconnectors / Isolators

• CTs / VTs

• Busbars

• Power Cables

• Carry out or review key electrical calculations, including:

• Short-circuit calculations

• Cable sizing

• Earthing / grounding design

• Lightning protection

• Prepare

technical specifications, datasheets, BOQ/MTO and design documentation

for primary equipment.

• Review vendor drawings, technical submissions and equipment documentation.

• Coordinate design interfaces with

Secondary / Protection & Control, Civil, SCADA & Telecommunication and other engineering disciplines

.

• Participate in technical bid evaluations and technical clarification with suppliers and clients.

• Ensure designs comply with applicable

IEC standards and UAE/GCC utility requirements

.

REQUIREMENTS

✔ Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.

✔ Strong hands-on experience in

HV/EHV Substation Primary Design

.

✔ Experience with

GIS and/or AIS substation design

.

✔ Strong knowledge of transformers, switchgear, CT/VT, busbars, cables, earthing and other primary equipment.

✔ Ability to independently prepare/review:

SLD + Equipment Layout + Design Calculations + Equipment Specifications + BOQ/MTO

✔ Experience with relevant electrical engineering/design software.

✔

UAE/GCC substation design experience is strongly preferred.

✔ Experience working with major GCC utilities, engineering consultants or EPC contractors will be an advantage.

✔ Good English communication and multidisciplinary engineering coordination skills.
