Job description

Senior Software Engineer โ€“ Embedded Linux

Location: Cedar Rapids, IA (Onsite)

Duration: 12 Months Contract

Pay Rate: $75 to $83/hr

Key Responsibilities

Design, develop, test, and maintain Embedded Linux software systems.

Develop and support Board Support Packages (BSPs) and Linux device drivers.

Contribute to Linux kernel, bootloader, root filesystem, and build toolchain development.

Perform board bring-up and target hardware integration activities.

Investigate and resolve complex hardware-software issues through root cause analysis.

Utilize hardware schematics and debugging tools such as logic analyzers and Wireshark.

Participate in Agile ceremonies, sprint planning, and team collaboration activities.

Manage change requests and task assignments through Jira.

Follow Collins Aerospace engineering standards, development processes, and quality procedures.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) with 5+ years of relevant experience; OR

Master's degree with 3+ years of relevant experience; OR

9+ years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree.

Minimum 3 years of professional experience developing Embedded Linux device drivers.

Strong programming experience in Embedded C/C++.

Experience with Bash and Python scripting.

Hands-on experience with board bring-up and hardware integration.

Experience debugging embedded systems using hardware schematics, logic analyzers, Wireshark, and related tools.

Experience working in Linux-based embedded environments.

Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Preferred Qualifications

Board Support Package (BSP) development experience.

Linux kernel, bootloader, and root filesystem development.

Experience with Buildroot and custom Linux distribution packaging.

Experience using Git and SVN version control systems.

Experience working in Agile development environments.

Knowledge of DevSecOps practices and CI/CD workflows.

Experience using Jira for issue tracking and project management.

100% onsite role in Cedar Rapids, IA.

Candidates must be US Citizens with the ability to obtain a security clearance. An active clearance is not required.

Interviews will be conducted via Zoom video.

Time entry will be managed through WIN.

All hours will be billed at the straight-time rate per FLSA.
