What You'll Do
The Senior GL Accountant will be responsible for maintaining the accuracy and integrity of Summit Point's general ledger and supporting timely and accurate financial reporting across the organization. This position will play a key role in the month-end and year-end close processes, financial analysis, and accounting operations, with a strong emphasis on proficiency in Unanet.
The Ideal Candidate Will Be Responsible For

Lead month-end and year-end close activities, including preparation and review of journal entries, accruals, and adjusting entries.

Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, including balance sheet reconciliations, and research and resolve discrepancies.

Review general ledger activity for accuracy, proper account classification, and compliance with GAAP and company accounting policies.

Prepare and analyze financial statements, supporting schedules, and account analyses.

Support the preparation of budgets and financial forecasts and analyze and report variances.

Serve as a key resource for Unanet accounting processes, financial reporting, and system utilization.

Support the daily operations of the accounting department and provide accounting guidance to Accounts Payable, Billing, Project Setup, and Payroll.

Develop and document accounting processes and policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.

Work closely with management and other departments to provide financial reporting and analysis to support decision-making.

Support tax preparation, compliance, and audit activities by preparing financial information, reconciliations, schedules, and other requested documentation.

Mentor junior accounting staff and provide guidance on accounting procedures and Unanet.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This is a full-time, exempt, on-site position based at our Summit Point, West Virginia facility.

Work is primarily performed in a professional office environment and requires extended periods of working at a desk and using a computer.

This role regularly communicates and collaborates with Finance team members, leadership, and other departments across the organization.

The position requires the ability to manage multiple priorities and work within established accounting and financial reporting deadlines.
Requirements
Job Requirements and Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or CMA preferred.

Minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible accounting experience, including significant general ledger and month-end/year-end close experience.

Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, account reconciliations, journal entries, accruals, and financial statement preparation.

Hands-on experience with Unanet, particularly general ledger, financial reporting, and/or project accounting functions.

Advanced Excel skills and proficiency with financial and accounting systems.

Experience with government contract or project accounting preferred; familiarity with FAR, CAS, and DCAA requirements is a plus.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.

Ability to research and resolve complex accounting discrepancies and provide technical accounting guidance to other team members.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments.

Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet month-end, year-end, and other financial reporting deadlines.
