Position Summary

The Senior Infrastructure Engineer is responsible for the architecture, engineering, implementation, security, and lifecycle management of the firm’s hybrid and cloud-first infrastructure. This role owns the reliability, scalability, availability, and protection of enterprise systems and firm data across on‑premises, cloud, and SaaS platforms. The position emphasizes automation, modern Microsoft cloud technologies, security‑by‑design, and operational excellence.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, maintain, secure, and modernize server, storage, and virtualization platforms across firm offices, datacenters, and Microsoft Azure.

  • Architect and support hybrid and cloud-native solutions using Microsoft Azure IaaS/PaaS

    , including compute, storage, networking, backup, and disaster recovery.

  • Administer and evolve Windows Server 2022 environments, including high availability, patching, configuration management, and lifecycle planning.

  • Manage and maintain Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD)

    , hybrid identity, conditional access, MFA, and identity governance.

  • Design, implement, and support Microsoft 365 services including Exchange Online, Microsoft Teams, SharePoint Online, and OneDrive

    , with a focus on security and user experience.

  • Lead email, collaboration, and identity modernization initiatives, including decommissioning of legacy on‑premises systems where appropriate.

  • Administer and optimize virtualization platforms such as HyperV

    (including HA, DRS, SRM) and/or Azure-native alternatives.

  • Manage and support virtual desktop and application delivery platforms

    (e.g., Azure Virtual Desktop).

  • Oversee enterprise storage, backup, and disaster recovery solutions using modern platforms (Azure Backup, Azure Site Recovery, Veeam or equivalent).

  • Monitor system health, capacity, performance, cost, and security metrics; proactively recommend and implement improvements.

  • Implement infrastructure automation and configuration management using PowerShell

  • Partner with Security, Network, and Application teams to design secure, resilient solutions and support business applications (including SQL Server workloads).

  • Ensure environments meet firm security, compliance, and resiliency standards,.

  • Maintain accurate and current technical documentation, architecture diagrams, and operational procedures.

  • Participate in incident response, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to infrastructure standards and best practices.

Position-Specific Skills and Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience designing, implementing, and supporting enterprise infrastructure in a hybrid or cloud-first environment.

  • Expert-level experience with Microsoft Windows Server (2019/2022) and enterprise Active Directory/Entra ID architectures.

  • Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft 365 and Azure administration (compute, networking, storage, identity, security).

  • Working knowledge of SQL Server 2019/2022 infrastructure and high-availability concepts (Always On, backup/recovery).

  • 5+ years of experience supporting Hyper-V environments; experience with cloud-native platforms strongly preferred.

  • Experience with Azure Virtual Desktop and/or Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops

  • Hands-on experience with enterprise backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity planning.

  • Strong scripting and automation skills; PowerShell required

  • Experience managing certificates, PKI, encryption, and secure communication protocols.

  • Familiarity with modern endpoint and device management solutions (e.g., Microsoft Intune

  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and documentation skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage projects, prioritize work, and deliver solutions in a fast-paced environment.

Education and General Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (BA or BS) required or equivalent professional experience.

  • Current or advanced Microsoft certifications

    (Azure, Microsoft 365, Security) strongly preferred.
