We are seeking a System Architecture Manager to drive the development of   next ‑ generation   architecture and technology supporting advanced aerospace platforms. This is a   high ‑ visibility ,   high ‑ impact   leadership role where your technical direction will influence every   facet   of complex system products across our Environmental & Airframe Control Systems (EACS) programs.  

As the manager of a talented group of   systems engineers, you will   drive   innovation and execution across the full system development lifecycle—ensuring   world ‑ class   architecture solutions from concept through delivery. Your leadership will shape system architecture with emphasis on mechanical integration, thermodynamics, controls, safety, reliability, testability, manufacturability, producibility, and cost.  

** What You Will Do **  

  • Partner closely with Product General Managers and Engineering Leadership to define system architectures that drive innovation, differentiation, and superior value into our Environmental & Airframe Control Systems   products .  

  • Align architecture and   Intellectual   Property ( IP)   product strategy with cross-functional stakeholders to maximize win rates and strengthen business cases for new opportunities.  

  • Build deep team   proficiency   in model-based systems engineering, enabling efficient, data-driven trade studies that accelerate development and improve decision quality.  

  • Collaborate with Product General Managers and Chief Engineers to strategically align programs with the right technical talent, ensuring teams are empowered, supported, and positioned for high-impact execution.  

  • Lead your team to conduct system architecture reviews, non-advocate reviews, and system design reviews—driving technical rigor that strengthens design integrity,   optimizes   product strategies, mitigates risk, and supports program and business   objectives .  

  • Champion continuous improvement of model-based systems engineering processes, fostering agility, innovation, and operational excellence across complex aerospace development programs.  

  • Guide your team in   identifying   and managing risks associated with mechanical integration, thermodynamics, controls, safety, reliability, testability, manufacturability, producibility, and cost—proactively developing mitigation strategies that protect program success while enabling ongoing improvement.  

  • Ensure your team follows standard processes to develop   accurate   cost estimates and define capital investment needs that inform strategic planning and enable sustainable program and capability growth.  

  • Oversee team execution to   maintain   schedule and budget adherence while delivering   high standards   of quality, performance, and efficiency across all phases of system and   component   development.  

  • Provide strategic direction for architecture processes, methodologies, and technology   development   roadmaps that support long-term business   objectives , customer satisfaction, and capability advancement.  

 

** Qualifications You Must Have  **  

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 10 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 7 years of experience  

  • Prior experience in engineering leadership or people management role, with responsibility for leading and developing technical teams.  

  • Experience leading cross-functional teams and collaborating effectively with engineering disciplines, Program Management, customers, and external stakeholders.  

  • Demonstrated experience mentoring and developing engineers, including   providing   technical guidance, performance feedback, and career development support.  

** Qualifications We Prefer **  

  • Advanced   degree  in Systems Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, or a related STEM discipline.  

  • Extensive experience in aerospace systems architecture and Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE),   including experience with   SysML   and multidisciplinary system design.  

  • Demonstrated leadership of complex aerospace systems and architecture activities,   including system architecture reviews, trade studies, design reviews, technical risk management, and cross-functional engineering teams.  

  • Experience with Environmental Control Systems (ECS), Airframe Control Systems, thermal management, or related   aircraft   systems,   with the ability to translate technical architecture into product strategy, customer value, cost, and business   objectives .

The salary range for this role is 132,400 USD - 251,600 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
