Senior Mechanical Engineer (MEP) – High-Rise Buildings

KEN International is a multidisciplinary engineering and project management consultancy providing project management, engineering consultancy, construction management and site supervision services across the UAE and internationally.

We are seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer (MEP) to join our Abu Dhabi team, supporting the construction and supervision of high-rise residential, hospitality and mixed-use developments.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise and monitor mechanical installation works, ensuring compliance with approved drawings, project specifications, applicable codes and quality standards.

• Review mechanical shop drawings, material submittals, method statements and technical documentation.

• Inspect HVAC, ventilation, plumbing, drainage, fire protection and associated mechanical installations.

• Coordinate with architectural, structural, electrical and other engineering disciplines to resolve site coordination issues.

• Monitor contractor progress, workmanship, material compliance and quality of installations.

• Review inspection requests, identify non-conformances and follow up on corrective actions.

• Attend technical and progress meetings with contractors, consultants and project stakeholders.

• Review technical queries, RFIs and proposed engineering solutions.

• Coordinate testing, commissioning, system integration and handover activities.

• Prepare technical reports and advise the project management team on mechanical engineering matters, risks and progress.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from a recognized university.

• Minimum 10 years of relevant professional experience

  , including significant experience in the UAE construction industry.

• Proven site supervision experience on high-rise residential, hospitality or mixed-use building projects.

• Strong technical knowledge of HVAC, chilled-water systems, plumbing, drainage, fire protection and mechanical building services.

• Good understanding of UAE authority requirements, applicable international codes and construction standards.

• Experience working with engineering consultancies, project management consultancies or supervision teams is highly preferred.

• Ability to review engineering documentation and resolve technical issues independently.

• Strong coordination, communication and reporting skills.

• Proficiency in AutoCAD and familiarity with BIM/Revit coordination will be an advantage.

Previous experience working as a Senior Mechanical Engineer within an engineering consultancy, supervising major high-rise construction projects in the UAE, is strongly preferred. Candidates must demonstrate direct responsibility for site inspections, technical reviews, contractor coordination and quality control.
