Reports to: Principal Product Manager

Department: Product Management

Location: Remote (US/ CAN)

About Priority Commerce:

Priority Commerce is a leading financial technology company on a mission to deliver a personalized, easy-to-adopt financial toolset that accelerates cash flow and optimizes working capital for businesses. Our vision is to eliminate the barriers to unlocking revenue - empowering businesses to grow faster and operate smarter.

We achieve this through the Priority Commerce Engine, an innovative platform that combines payables, acquiring, and banking and treasury solutions. This unified approach allows businesses to streamline financial operations, reduce unnecessary costs, and uncover new revenue opportunities.

At Priority Commerce, we're driven by results. We expect our people to be known for results - bringing expertise, momentum, and relentless focus to every challenge, helping our clients and each other thrive.

About the Role:

We are looking for a Senior Product Manager to own Priority Commerce Engine (PCE) Platform & APIs, setting product direction, leading the roadmap, and shaping how Priority’s financial capabilities are exposed consistently across products, partners, and developer experiences. This is a hands-on role for someone who can move comfortably between strategy and execution. You will turn complex platform problems into clear product requirements, API behavior, lifecycle models, and roadmap decisions. You will work across payments, onboarding, transactions, accounts, banking, treasury, and financial operations, partnering closely with Product, Engineering, and Architecture. The ideal candidate combines strong API and platform product experience with deep banking or payments expertise, strong product judgment, and the ability to lead through influence across multiple teams.

Domain Areas You'll Own

This role spans a broad set of Platform and API responsibilities. We’re looking for someone with hands-on experience across most of the following, and the appetite to go deep on the rest:

  • Platform APIs and Product Contracts: Shape the business concepts, lifecycle semantics, events, and API behavior exposed through PCE.

  • Financial Capability APIs: Lead product direction across transactions, money movement, onboarding, entities, accounts, banking, treasury, balances, and financial operations.

  • Platform Capability Expansion: Assess new and evolving capabilities and determine their implications for PCE Platform & APIs.

  • API Lifecycle and Evolution: Own compatibility, versioning, migration, coexistence, and deprecation across the API portfolio.

  • Cross-Product Platform Strategy: Identify recurring needs across products, partners, and developer experiences and determine which warrant common Platform capabilities.

Responsibilities:

  • Define and evolve the product strategy and multi-quarter roadmap for PCE Platform &

  • APIs, tied to measurable customer, developer, and business outcomes.

  • Shape the business concepts, lifecycle semantics, events, integration behavior, and

  • requirements exposed through PCE APIs, partnering with Engineering and Architecture

  • on technical design.

  • Lead Platform and API initiatives spanning transactions, money movement, onboarding,

  • entities, accounts, banking, treasury, and financial operations.

  • Take ambiguous, cross-functional Platform problems and drive them to clear

  • requirements, trade-offs, and product decisions.

  • Maintain visibility into new and evolving capabilities and determine their implications for

  • the Platform roadmap.

  • Identify recurring integration needs and determine when they warrant common Platform

  • capabilities versus product-specific solutions.

  • Own the Product direction for API compatibility, versioning, migration, coexistence, and deprecation.

  • Partner with Developer Enablement and Embedded Product teams to ensure Platform capabilities are ready for adoption across developer and embedded experiences.

  • Define and track Platform outcomes such as API adoption, cross-product usage, migration progress, and integration consistency.

  • Stay hands-on through execution, using AI and modern product tools to accelerate analysis, requirements, stories, acceptance criteria, and documentation, and working closely with Engineering and Program or Project Management to move initiatives through delivery.

  • Communicate Platform strategy, priorities, dependencies, and trade-offs clearly to Product, Engineering, Architecture, and executive stakeholders.

  • Prioritize Platform investments based on customer value, business impact, cross-product

  • leverage, dependencies, risk, and long-term Platform value.

What Success Looks Like:

  • First 90 days: You understand PCE’s major API domains, consumers, current roadmap, and Platform opportunities, and have developed a clear point of view on priorities and gaps.

  • 6 months: The Platform roadmap is executing predictably, API product definitions and lifecycle decisions are clearer, and alignment across Product, Engineering, and Architecture has improved.

  • 12 months: PCE APIs are increasingly adopted across products and integrations, Platform decisions are being made proactively, and new capabilities can be introduced with greater consistency and less one-off integration work.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Roughly 7 to 10 years of relevant Product Management experience, including meaningful ownership of platform, API, integration, or technically complex products. This is a guide, not a gate. We hire on demonstrated impact.

  • Deep banking and/or payments expertise, with practical understanding of transactions, money movement, accounts, balances, settlement, onboarding, and financial operations.

  • Hands-on experience owning API or platform products that support multiple applications, partners, or external integrations.

  • Strong understanding of REST APIs, events, asynchronous workflows, lifecycle modeling, versioning, backward compatibility, and integration patterns.

  • Demonstrated ability to translate complex financial capabilities into clear product requirements and API behavior.

  • Strong product judgment and experience independently taking ambiguous, cross-functional problems from discovery through delivery.

  • Experience evolving APIs over time, including migration, compatibility, modernization, and adoption.

  • Fluency working with Engineering and Architecture on technical trade-offs and influencing teams without direct authority.

  • Strong roadmap, prioritization, communication, and executive stakeholder-management skills.

  • Fluency with AI-assisted Product workflows and a hands-on approach to requirements, stories, acceptance criteria, analysis, and documentation when needed.

Nice to Have

  • Experience across multiple financial domains such as merchant acquiring, banking, treasury, payables, onboarding or underwriting, ledgering, reconciliation, or money movement.

  • Experience with payment rails such as ACH, RTP/FedNow, cards, wires, or checks.

  • Experience building API platforms that support multiple processors, financial institutions, providers, or business domains.

  • Experience with OpenAPI, webhooks, API gateways, idempotency, SDK ecosystems, developer platforms, or API observability.

  • Experience managing API migrations or deprecations across multiple consumers.

  • Experience working in regulated financial environments.
