About The Role

BMD Urban has a strong pipeline of complex urban development work across metropolitan Melbourne, creating an opportunity for an accomplished Senior Project Manager to take ownership of significant projects and help develop the capability of our project teams.

Reporting to the Construction Manager, you will have end-to-end responsibility for project delivery, combining strong commercial management with visible, hands-on leadership. You will work closely with clients, stakeholders and project teams to drive safe, high-quality outcomes while maintaining control of programme, cost, contracts and commercial performance.

This role will suit an experienced Senior Project Manager who enjoys being close to delivery, can confidently lead other Project Managers and brings structure and commercial discipline to complex project environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the delivery of major urban development projects from planning through to completion

• Take ownership of project performance, including commercial, contractual, programme, safety and quality outcomes

• Build strong relationships with clients, stakeholders, subcontractors and delivery partners

• Lead and support Project Managers, Senior Project Engineers and broader project teams

• Coach developing Project Managers as they step into greater project and commercial responsibility

• Maintain strong cost control, forecasting, contractual management and financial reporting

• Drive consistent project controls and disciplined use of Jobpac

• Identify project risks early and implement practical solutions to maintain delivery momentum

• Depending on project requirements, provide oversight across multiple projects while empowering project teams to manage day-to-day delivery

The Successful Candidate Will Be a Self-starter With

• Proven experience as a Senior Project Manager delivering complex civil, urban development or major infrastructure projects

• Strong commercial acumen with a sound understanding of contracts, cost control, forecasting and financial performance

• Demonstrated experience leading Project Managers and multidisciplinary project teams

• Strong project controls and systems capability, with Jobpac experience essential

• A practical, hands-on leadership style and the ability to bring structure and clarity to project delivery

• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills

• Experience within a tier-one or tier-two civil construction environment
