Senior Quantity Surveyor

Role Description

This part-time remote Senior Quantity Surveyor role focuses on providing cost expertise and commercial support across construction and infrastructure projects. Day-to-day responsibilities include preparing and reviewing Bills of Quantities (BOQs), developing cost plans and budgets, and monitoring project expenditures against approved targets. The Senior Quantity Surveyor will analyze variations, prepare cost reports, and provide recommendations to optimize value and maintain financial control. The role also involves collaborating with project managers, engineers, and external partners to ensure accurate cost forecasting, adherence to contract conditions, and timely reporting. The position requires proactive risk identification, data-driven decision support, and consistent documentation to uphold financial transparency throughout the project lifecycle.

Qualifications

• Strong cost planning and cost management skills, including the ability to develop budgets and maintain cost control across project phases.

• Proficiency in BOQ preparation and review, with experience in quantity take-off and measurement aligned with relevant standards.

• Demonstrated capability in cost control and cost reporting, including variance analysis, forecasting, and production of structured financial reports.

• Experience with construction contracts, procurement processes, and commercial administration in a quantity surveying context.

• Advanced numerical, analytical, and Excel skills, with familiarity in cost management or estimating software tools.

• Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a closely related field; professional certification or membership (e.g., RICS or equivalent) is an advantage.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex cost information clearly to diverse stakeholders.

• Proven ability to work independently in a remote environment, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines with attention to detail.
