Description

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Coordinates, monitors, and assists in implementing requested system changes including monitoring of source control, performing deployment documentation, and coordinating test environments

  • Meets with members of management for input on prioritizing of strategic projects and maintains communication of current project status’

  • Builds and strengthens the team's core technical capabilities through mentoring, training, coaching, and knowledge sharing.

  • Leads by example as a senior member of the team, providing technical guidance, promoting best practices, and fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional growth.

  • Monitors internal requests and open items with vendors

  • Analyze the functionality of the applications and software ecosystem used by the Company, and suggest opportunities for improvement and optimization

  • Update existing programs to correct errors or provide enhanced functionality. Monitors the operation of assigned programs and responds to issues by diagnosing and correcting errors in logic and coding.

  • Coordinate and discuss business goals, objectives, and requirements for requested changes. Document same.

  • Review user requirements and needs for new software and perform analysis, design, implementation, installation and training related to new software developed or acquired.

  • Communicate with business on project progress, issues, etc.

  • Use analytical skills and computer knowledge to improve business work-flow

  • Provide clarity for development initiatives, identify potential problems and suggest potential alternative solutions.

  • Document development best practices and allow for future modification.

  • Work closely with Company leadership to ensure the development ecosystem meets business needs, considering both hardware and software issues when developing new systems or expanding existing ones.

  • Assist users and operating areas in implementing and supporting systems including system installation, training and troubleshooting.

  • Carry out fact finding and program analysis of problems; applies established procedures to bring resolution.

  • Assist in selecting hardware and software; maintain contact with vendors.

  • Stay current with industry trends and technology advancements.

Desired Qualifications And Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education and experience

  • 5+ years of experience in related field

  • Demonstrated high abilities in Core Java development skills

  • 3rd party software integrations (REST APIs, SOAP APIs, XML, JSon, etc.)

  • Building secure, performant, scalable software (APM tools, profilers, performance testing tools)

  • CI/CD tools (GitHub, Bitbucket, Gradle, Maven, Artifactory, Nexus)

  • Work collaboratively in an empowered, lean, cross-functional team

  • Technical leadership from solution design through release

  • Exert technical influence to improve the reliability of Guidewire products

  • Mentor individual contributors to help them grow technical skills and business knowledge
