Senior Software Engineer - (Backend)

NYC - Onsite

$175k - $240k

I'm working with a well-funded technology company in New York that is hiring a Senior Backend Engineer for one of its fastest-growing product teams.

The product moves physical goods around the city every day, at scale, against tight delivery windows. The engineering problems are real: routing, batching, dispatch, and keeping it all reliable when thousands of orders land at once.

You'd be joining a small team with startup pace and ownership, backed by the resources and equity of a much larger group.

What you'll do

Architect and build the backend services behind real-time logistics and operations
Lead technical work across route optimisation, automation, scalability and reliability
Own core APIs, services and data stores from design through to production
Set the standard for testing, monitoring and observability
Work closely with product, mobile, frontend and operations
Mentor other engineers through design and code reviews

What they're looking for

5 to 8 years of backend engineering experience
Strong in Java, Go, or both
Experience building distributed systems in production
Comfortable owning ambiguous problems end to end
Background in logistics, delivery, marketplaces or other high-scale, real-time systems is a big plus
A stable track record, with meaningful time spent in your recent roles

$175k to $240k base, plus equity and annual bonus
On-site 5 days a week in New York
