Senior Software Engineer

Description

Join FactBase as an early senior engineer on the Zumen US team.

You’ll help adapt and scale a cloud platform that enables manufacturers to manage technical drawings, documents, estimates, and related workflows. Your work will directly shape the platform’s US architecture, engineering practices, and enterprise capabilities.

You will work closely with cross-functional teams including product managers and customer success to enhance data modeling, search, retrieval, and integrations within the Zumen platform.

The FactBase engineering team operates with a remote-first culture, giving you the flexibility to work from anywhere in the United States. For candidates who prefer an office environment or a hybrid routine, our US headquarters in Chicago, IL is available for on-site collaboration and work.

Responsibilities

• Development:

  Design and ship capabilities for document ingestion, metadata modeling, search and retrieval, enterprise integrations, and secure multi-tenant workflows. Improve the reliability, observability, performance, and operability of services as Zumen expands its US customer base.

• Ownership:

  Lead feature development across the complete software development lifecycle, from technical design and implementation to automated testing, deployment, and post-release maintenance.

• Technical Leadership:

  Shape architectural decisions, raise the quality of technical design and code review, mentor engineers through day-to-day collaboration, and help evolve our testing, delivery, and operational practices.

• Cross-Functional Collaboration:

  Partner directly with Engineering Leadership, Product Management, and Customer Success to translate customer feedback into technical requirements and high-impact deliverables.

Minimum Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience designing, building, and deploying production-grade applications

• Hands-on experience with at least one major cloud provider (AWS, GCP, Azure)

• Strong foundation in frontend engineering

  (e.g., React, modern web architecture) or

  distributed systems design and implementation

  (e.g., microservices, high-throughput pipelines, fault tolerance).

• To comply with International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) requirements, candidates must be a U.S. Citizen or U.S. Lawful Permanent Resident (Green Card holder)

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience leveraging AI tools to accelerate software delivery and team processes

• Experience integrating third-party tools or AI capabilities into backend systems and data pipelines.

• Familiarity with implementing or maintaining software under US defense compliance standards and processes (ITAR, FedRamp, CMMC)

• Strong proficiency with relational database systems (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL) and database optimization.
