Senior Software Engineer (Growth)
Chime
Job description
-
Chime’s Growth Engineering team builds the member-facing experiences that move our business metrics, and we’re scaling fast.
-
Design, develop, test, refactor and scale consumer product features end to end — from member-facing React/TypeScript interfaces through the services and APIs that power them
-
Build strong, resilient APIs and partner with mobile engineers on the contracts behind our React Native app
-
Rapidly prototype and launch A/B tests, then use the results to decide what ships, what iterates, and what gets killed
-
Own the quality of what you ship end to end — page performance, funnel conversion, accessibility, and the instrumentation that tells you it’s working
-
Collaborate with product, design, data science, and marketing to understand member pain points and come up with solutions
-
Proactively identify opportunities for improving the reliability and scalability of our systems
-
Work across the engineering team to improve and uphold high technical standards
Benefits
-
Physical: We believe in taking care of your physical health, so as a Chimer you’ll get medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as benefits to support your physical activity, family planning, and all of your little Chimers
-
Emotional: We know that staying healthy involves a lot more than doctor’s checkups. We partner with Modern Health to help you navigate your mental health, give monthly Take Care of Yourself Days, and want you to take time off when you need it
-
Financial: We want Chimers to save and feel financially supported, so we offer savings plans with competitive matching, as well as access to financial planning and legal assistance so that you can find your financial peace of mind
-
Social: We’ll celebrate your milestones together with travel stipends, swag, and high-fives and make sure you’re connected to fellow Chimers through our Chime Resource Groups (CRGs) and company events- We’re looking for a full stack engineer who wants to own features end to end: the React and TypeScript interfaces members actually touch, the Rails services and APIs behind them, and the experiments that prove the work paid off. You’ll influence architecture, ship across the stack, and maintain the ongoing health of the code
-
Comfort with TypeScript and component-driven UI development
-
Exposure to architectural patterns of large, high-scale web applications
-
Experience running experiments — A/B tests, feature flags
-
Proven experience with a modern front-end framework (React or comparable) and a server-side framework (Ruby on Rails or comparable)
-
Experience working with transactional databases and caching, and with client-side state and performance
-
5+ years developing software in a production environment at scale
-
Growth or consumer experience as an added plus
