Senior Software Engineer I
Tecuity, Inc
Job description
Position Summary
The Senior Software Engineer I is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining internet applications and related systems. The Senior Software Engineer I collaborates within a team, following industry best practices, standards, and patterns to create innovative, high-quality solutions that meet our clients’ business needs and objectives. The Senior Software Engineer I understands the business value behind the product and must be talented in problem-solving and making well-reasoned decisions about software design and implementation based on knowledge and a broad range of experiences with different roles, technologies, and situations.
As a Senior Software Engineer I, you are expected to understand the business rules behind a filing type and own assigned features end to end — requirements, design, implementation, testing, deployment, and production support. Cross-cutting and architectural changes are made in collaboration with, and subject to review by, a Senior Software Engineer II or team lead.
About the Work
Our product serves Secretary of State offices – state government agencies responsible for business filings and other public records - which means real filing deadlines, statutory requirements and citizens who rely on a working system. All new development happens on our modern .NET platform. We also maintain established .NET Framework (legacy) implementations currently in production or being migrated onto the modern platform; depending on your assignment, you may work in one or both.
This is a mature, multi-tenant product rather than a blank page. You’ll build new modules and capabilities on a well-established modern stack, typically supporting more than one client implementation concurrently – each with its own database, release calendar, and statutes. That means real ownership: knowing the product and the client well, understanding business rules, questioning requirements that do not hold up, writing acceptance criteria and testing instructions for your own work, and seeing your changes through to production.
AI-assisted development is not a pilot program here - it is in full use and is a standard part of our engineers’ daily workflow. Claude Code is used actively and its role is expanding. You will be expected to lean into these tools to learn their strengths and failure modes firsthand and verify output rather than accept it. Our engineers treat AI as a fast, tireless collaborator that still requires oversight, and they leverage it to move considerably faster without lowering their standards.
