SENIOR SOFTWARE ENGINEER

Monaco Enterprises has been a leading manufacturer, designer, and installer of premier life safety, asset protection, and emergency management solutions for over 50 years. Monaco Enterprises, Inc., a Spokane based manufacturer of fire, mass notification, and security alarm systems, is seeking a professional, result-oriented, and enthusiastic candidate.

The core of our solutions is our central receiving system, an event-driven real-time suite of applications which monitor the status of a multitude of remote detection devices. Our Software Engineering team creates, maintains, and is responsible for the entire software development lifecycle for the product.

We are adding a Senior Software Engineer to our Software Engineering team to help us add features and maintain our current flagship software products, prepare customer-specific configuration items for customer deployments, as well as maintenance of existing legacy software.

Successful candidates should be fluent in .NET programming languages and technologies and have interest in working in a small, collaborative product development team.

Job Responsibilities:

We expect the successful candidate will perform the following duties, though the list will evolve over time:

  • Collaborate with team members to refine user stories and requirements

  • Write clean, modular, well-documented code which adheres to coding standards

  • Implement application code to meet product requirements while keeping maintainability, flexibility, configurability, and reuse in mind for future enhancements

  • Participate in determining level of effort for new features and maintenance activities

  • Participate in design and code reviews, applying and learning from feedback

Job Requirements:

Successful candidates will have a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science (or equivalent degree program) and professional experience in most, if not all, of the following categories:

  • Developing client-server applications using Microsoft technologies and languages:

    • VB6, VB.NET, C#, .NET, ADO, OLEDB, Access and SQL Server databases
  • Developing, debugging, and deploying event-driven applications

  • Writing, analyzing, and optimizing SQL queries and maintaining relational databases

  • Working with remote Agile (or Agile-like) software development teams and processes

  • Source code management with Git, CI/CD build pipelines with Azure DevOps

  • Managing and documenting software projects with Jira and Confluence

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and effort estimation skills

Additional emphasis for any of the following:

  • Experience developing with Windows COM/DCOM architecture and Win32 APIs

  • Experience with event distribution with RabbitMQ

  • Familiarity with Geographic Information Systems concepts and associated data storage/querying mechanisms

  • Experience as a team lead or similar responsibilities
