Senior Software Engineer, Algorithms & Optimization

Graph and hypergraph algorithms
High-performance computing
Machine learning
Distributed systems
Electronic Design Automation (EDA)

This role is ideal for candidates who want to see ground breaking research translated into products that impact leading semiconductors and AI companies worldwide.

What You'll Do

Build and develop scalable optimization algorithms for hardware verification and emulation systems.
Build high-performance software in modern C++ and Python.
Address challenging problems involving synthesis, partitioning, placement, routing, scheduling, and resource optimization.
Take on complex computational problems at the intersection of optimization, scalable software, and semiconductor verification technology.
Work on large-scale distributed computing infrastructures used to run thousands of concurrent verification jobs.
Collaborate with outstanding researchers and engineers to transform advanced algorithms into production-quality software.
Evaluate and integrate machine learning and AI techniques into next-generation EDA workflows.
Drive technical innovation from concept through deployment.

What We're Looking For

MS or PhD in Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Electrical Engineering, Operational Research, or related fields.
Minimum of 5 years of experience developing optimization algorithms and high-performance software for EDA, HPC, or related technology domains.
Strong background in algorithms, optimization, machine learning, or scientific computing.
Proficiency in C++ and/or Python.
Ability to independently investigate complex technical problems and deliver practical solutions.
Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Nice to Have

Experience with EDA tools, FPGA and ASIC design flows.
Research publications in optimization, HPC, machine learning, CAD, or related areas.
Familiarity with tools such as Bazel, Git, CI/CD, SGE, MPI, TBB, CUDA, or distributed computing frameworks.
Contributions to open-source software projects.

Work Location & Collaboration

This is a hybrid role based in Fremont, CA, with regular onsite presence expected.
We value in-person teamwork and believe breakthrough innovation is accelerated through close interaction with teammates, researchers, and product leaders.
Domestic and international travel may be required to support customers, industry events, and global team collaboration.

The salary range for this position is $129,600 to $233,300 and this role is eligible to earn incentive compensation. The actual compensation offered is based on the successful candidate's job-related skills, experience, and relevant education/training.
