Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced Senior/Staff Full Stack Engineer to join our growing engineering team and help build scalable, high-performance software solutions powered by artificial intelligence.

This role offers an opportunity to develop foundational product features, design robust backend systems, and build modern frontend applications. You will take ownership of technical solutions from conception to production while collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver innovative products.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on engineer who enjoys building systems from scratch, solving complex technical challenges, and working in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.

Prior experience in biology or life sciences is not required.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and deliver new product features across frontend and backend systems.

• Build and maintain scalable backend services, APIs, and data pipelines.

• Develop application services supporting identity management, data storage, and machine learning integrations.

• Build responsive, intuitive, and high-performance user interfaces.

• Design and implement robust APIs using REST and GraphQL.

• Own features end-to-end, from technical design and development through deployment and optimization.

• Collaborate with engineering, product, design, and AI teams to translate complex requirements into effective software solutions.

• Contribute to architectural decisions, system reliability, performance optimization, and code quality.

• Participate in agile development cycles and deliver production-ready features at a rapid pace.

• Establish engineering best practices and contribute to the long-term scalability of the platform.

Required Qualifications

• 10+ years of professional experience in full-stack or backend software engineering, excluding internships.

• Strong hands-on experience with Python and backend frameworks such as Django.

• Experience developing frontend applications using React.

• Strong knowledge of REST APIs, GraphQL, and API design principles.

• Experience with SQL databases, data modeling, and data-intensive applications.

• Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, Google Cloud Platform (GCP), or Microsoft Azure.

• Experience building, deploying, and maintaining production-grade software systems.

• Ability to take end-to-end ownership of projects and deliver scalable technical solutions.

• Strong problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.

• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, evolving environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience building products and systems from scratch.

• Strong backend architecture and distributed systems knowledge.

• Experience developing data pipelines or integrating AI/ML capabilities into applications.

• Experience working on enterprise software or complex, data-intensive platforms.

• Ability to balance rapid delivery with scalability, reliability, and maintainability.

• Curiosity and willingness to learn new technical and scientific domains.

Work Location and Schedule

Location: San Francisco, California, USA

Work Arrangement: Full-time, primarily on-site, five days per week. Some flexibility may be available.
