Description

We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Structural Engineer to join our Community Development team in Newcastle. In this role you will have the opportunity to work on and lead projects across a range of engineering disciplines, particularly in water infrastructure, industrial and civil structures.

Stantec’s community development team are responsible for the delivery of a variety of projects across numerous disciplines and sectors of all sizes including but not limited to greenfield master planned communities, mixed-use developments, parks, recreation facilities, and streetscapes. We activate urban downtowns, suburban centers, small towns, and rural areas—and the multimodal corridors that connect us to the places we work, live, and thrive.

The Senior Structural Engineer will be part of likeminded professionals delivering consulting engineering services to existing and new clients in various sectors in the local and surrounding regions.

Day to day tasks would involve:

  • Design and document structural engineering solutions for water infrastructure, industrial and civil structures

  • Scoping, design and construction support

  • Providing up to date knowledge of construction methods and materials, and their impact on design/construction.

  • Delivery of practical and innovative engineering solutions for clients

  • Collaborating across disciplines to deliver a complete solution to a project

  • Ensuring technical work and design calculations are of the highest standard

  • Mentoring junior staff in structural engineering and undertaking reviews of structural models, calculations, specifications and drawings.

  • Preparing high-quality reports and other related documents.

  • Carrying out construction phase services including inspections.

  • Helping win work and drive a result orientated and enthusiastic culture for project delivery.

  • Contributing to the growth of the company in the market place including participation in business planning activities.

To be successful for this role you'll need:

  • Demonstrated local structural design experience in consulting engineering practice of water infrastructure, industrial and civil structures

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering, other relevant qualifications and industry experience. CPEng Qualification will be looked upon favourably.

  • Proven experience with structural design software such as; SPACEGASS, Strand7, RAPT, STAAD Pro, Inducta etc.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills. Well-developed interpersonal skills to develop, maintain and enhance internal and client relationships.

  • Proven experience in time management and organisational skills including the ability to manage resources and delegate tasks effectively.

  • Attitude of taking initiative, enthusiasm, and eagerness to learn.

  • Ongoing commitment to professional development through self-study, training and seminars, and maintaining your Continual Professional Development (CPD).
