Build modern software solutions that help turn mission requirements into effective, reliable applications. Join NS2 Mission as a Full Performance Software Developer in the Northern VA area , where you'll contribute to the design, development, testing, and sustainment of enterprise applications in a collaborative Agile environment.

You'll work with engineering teams and stakeholders to translate business and system requirements into functional software solutions, with a focus on Java, Angular, web services, databases, and modern DevOps practices. This role offers the opportunity to contribute across the software development lifecycle, work within a dispersed team environment, and expand your experience with cloud, automation, and distributed application architectures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, enhance, and maintain enterprise applications within modern web-based environments.

  • Translate formal and informal system requirements into functional application interfaces and software solutions.

  • Develop backend services and web applications using Java and Angular.

  • Design and implement web services and APIs, including REST and SOAP interfaces.

  • Analyze user and business needs and contribute to software designs that improve operational efficiency.

  • Work with application databases using technologies such as JDBC, ODBC, or direct database interfaces.

  • Participate in Scrum teams operating within a Lean Agile Framework, contributing to planning, development, testing, and retrospectives.

  • Conduct routine quality assurance activities, including peer reviews, software testing, and validation.

  • Support continuous integration, test automation, and DevOps practices using tools such as Git and Jenkins.

  • Develop technical documentation, project artifacts, and status information related to software activities and deliverables.

  • Collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders to understand requirements, communicate solutions, and support successful project delivery.

  • Contribute to software deployment, maintenance, and sustainment activities throughout the application lifecycle.

Required Qualifications

  • Professional experience developing enterprise software applications in web-based environments.

  • Hands-on development experience with Java.

  • Experience building user interfaces with Angular.

  • Demonstrated experience with web service design and development.

  • Working knowledge of REST and SOAP web services.

  • Experience with Git and Jenkins.

  • Familiarity with continuous integration, test automation, and DevOps practices.

  • Experience working in Linux environments.

  • Experience working as part of a Scrum team within a Lean Agile development framework.

  • Ability to translate system requirements into application interfaces and functional software solutions.

  • Knowledge of JDBC, ODBC, or direct database interfaces and their use in application development.

  • Experience participating in software quality assurance activities, including peer reviews.

  • Ability to work effectively within a dispersed or geographically distributed team.

  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience implementing microservices, with micro front-end experience preferred.

  • Experience implementing solutions within AWS cloud environments.

  • Familiarity with AWS services and cloud-based application development.

  • Experience developing and maintaining automated CI/CD pipelines.

  • Background working with distributed data architectures.

  • Experience with Puppet module development and/or Terraform.

  • Experience supporting ETL tools and data integration workflows.

  • Experience working with government customer architecture or engineering review boards.

  • Ability to communicate technical concepts effectively to non-technical stakeholders.

  • Experience with application development using RESTful and SOAP-based web services.

  • Demonstrated interest in researching emerging technologies and keeping current with industry standards and software development practices.

  • Experience supporting Federal Government, Intelligence Community, or other mission-focused technical programs.

Salary and Benefits Information:

The salary range for this position is $110,243.00 to $165,787.00. The proposed range is intended as a general guideline. Final compensation will be determined based on qualifications, experience, location, and contractual considerations and may fall outside of the stated range.
