SOFTWARE DEVELOPER I

The Software Developer I contributes to the design, development, testing, deployment, and support of software applications and integrations that enable business operations. Gathers and evaluates end-user requirements. Performs review and troubleshooting throughout the software development lifecycle. Corrects programming errors, codes systems enhancements, and makes recommendations for improvements based on the findings. Stays current on emerging trends and software systems development best practices. Work closely with end users and IT staff to deliver reliable solutions while learning and following established engineering standards and practices.

Essential Job Functions

• Responsible for building and maintaining business relationships, which includes working with all levels and organizations of the Company to respond and resolve user requests and issues in a timely manner.

• Communicate clearly and timely with internal users on timelines, progress and solutions in action regarding their requests and issues.

• Regular, in-person attendance due to necessary teamwork and interactive nature of this position.

• Develop, enhance, and maintain software applications and database objects under guidance from senior staff.

• Participate in requirements gathering with users; document requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria.

• Write clear, maintainable code following team standards; perform unit testing and assist with integration testing.

• Assist with troubleshooting, debugging, and resolution of application issues; escalate appropriately.

• Support deployments and changes using established DevOps processes (version control, build/release, and change management).

• Communicate status, progress, and blockers to the team; provide timely updates on assigned work.

• Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending training, reviewing technical publications, and participating in team learning activities.

• Complete assignments and tasks in a timely and efficient manner.

• Must have a valid driver’s license.

• Ensures lessons learned applied to future efforts.

• Leverages knowledge of Software Engineer II and III in regards to systems support methodology, skills, and tools.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities (Competencies)

Working knowledge of one or more programming languages and frameworks (e.g., C#, .NET, JavaScript/TypeScript) and SQL fundamentals.

• Understanding of software development lifecycle concepts (requirements, design, coding, testing, deployment, support).

• Familiarity with version control (e.g., Git) and basic CI/CD concepts.

• Ability to troubleshoot with guidance; basic debugging and code review participation.

• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

• Effective verbal and written communication and listening skills.

• Self-motivation and ability to complete assigned tasks with moderate supervision.

• Knowledge of computer hardware, software, and networking technology.

• Ability to work well under pressure and manage time effectively in a constantly changing and time sensitive environment while prioritizing multiple tasks in parallel.

Education and Experience

• Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or relevant discipline, or equivalent experience.

• Zero (0) to Two (2) years of professional software development experience preferred (internships/co-ops considered).

Base Compensation Range: $63,736 - $99,691 annually

Variable Compensation Range: Incentive bonus eligibility up to 12% of gross annual salary base on company performance.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Professional office environment with some time spent in the manufacturing area. Exposure to conditions, such as: dust, fumes, noise and high-degree varying seasonal temperatures. Machinery with energy sources including electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, chemical, or other energy.
