What to Expect

Tesla’s Claims team is seeking a skilled and driven Backend Developer to join a high-impact, mission-critical group supporting all claims platforms across Tesla’s service, vehicle, and energy business units. As a Backend Developer, you’ll be responsible for developing and maintaining RESTful APIs using C#, working with MySQL databases, and contributing to a robust microservices infrastructure. This is a hands-on role with significant ownership over technical tasks and long-term projects. You’ll collaborate with a small, agile team of engineers who value logic, accountability, confidence, and humility.

What You'll Do

  • Design, build, and maintain backend services and REST APIs using C#

  • Work within a microservices environment supporting customer-facing applications

  • Manage data storage and access using MySQL and contribute to schema design and performance optimization

  • Collaborate with team members to translate functional requirements into scalable technical solutions

  • Take full ownership of assigned features and drive them from concept to deployment

  • Ensure the reliability, performance, and security of backend services

  • Troubleshoot, debug, and improve existing systems and workflows

  • Communicate effectively with cross-functional teams and demonstrate critical thinking in problem-solving

  • Contribute to occasional UI work and integration as needed

What You'll Bring

  • 5+ years of experience as a Backend Developer/Software Engineer

  • Strong hands-on experience with C#, especially in building and maintaining REST APIs

  • Proficient in MySQL, with an understanding of database performance and optimization

  • Solid understanding of microservices architecture and modern backend best practices

  • Strong sense of ownership and accountability for delivering quality software

  • Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking abilities

  • Collaborative, humble, and confident communicator

Expected Compensation

$140,000 - $252,000/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits

Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
