Description

Centex Technologies is hiring a Software Engineer 4 to design, build, test, and sustain complex software capabilities while providing senior technical leadership across the delivery lifecycle. This opportunity is well suited to an experienced professional who enjoys owning difficult work, creating clarity, and collaborating across technical, program, and customer teams.

What You'll Do

• Translate product, system, and customer requirements into maintainable software designs and technical plans.

• Develop secure, testable, observable code for complex features, services, integrations, and data workflows.

• Create automated unit, integration, contract, and system tests and maintain effective code-review standards.

• Diagnose complex defects and production issues across application, data, API, and infrastructure boundaries.

• Break down ambiguous work, identify dependencies and risks, and guide implementation across contributors.

• Mentor engineers, facilitate design reviews, and raise engineering standards without relying on formal authority.

Work Arrangement

This is a remote U.S. position. Occasional travel or work outside normal hours may be required based on customer and program needs.

Requirements

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, information systems, or a related field, or equivalent directly relevant experience.

• Seven or more years of professional software engineering experience delivering production systems.

• Advanced proficiency in at least one relevant language and strong knowledge of software design, APIs, data, testing, source control, and secure development.

• Demonstrated ability to lead complex technical work from unclear requirements through reliable delivery.

Preferred

• Experience supporting federal, defense, regulated, or mission-critical systems.

• Experience with cloud-native architecture, distributed systems, DevSecOps, and software supply-chain security.
