Software Engineer 5- Automotive Domain

We are looking for an experienced IT Software Engineer 5/ Technical Lead to design, develop, and support scalable enterprise applications in a cloud-native environment.

This is a 12-month contract opportunity | 100% Remote | Chicago, IL. Other locations will not be considered.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of scalable, secure, and highly available enterprise applications.

• Develop backend services using Java, Spring Boot, REST APIs, and microservices

  .

• Design and implement cloud-native solutions using AWS

  .

• Work with AWS services including ECS/Fargate, IAM, ALB, RDS, CloudWatch, and Secrets Manager

  .

• Establish and maintain CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure automation, monitoring, logging, and observability

  .

• Design distributed and event-driven systems with a focus on scalability, resilience, and performance.

• Work with OpenSearch/Elasticsearch and relational/NoSQL databases.

• Troubleshoot production issues, conduct root-cause analysis, and drive performance and reliability improvements.

• Provide technical guidance through architecture discussions, code reviews, mentoring, and engineering best practices.

• Collaborate with Product, Engineering, QA, DevOps, and business stakeholders to deliver enterprise solutions.

• Leverage AI-assisted development tools where appropriate while maintaining strong engineering, security, and quality standards.

Required Qualifications

• 10+ years of software engineering experience

• 5+ years in a technical lead, senior engineering, or architecture-focused capacity

• Strong hands-on experience with Java and Spring Boot

• Proven experience developing microservices and distributed systems

• Strong hands-on AWS/cloud-native experience

• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD, and Infrastructure as Code

• Strong understanding of APIs, databases, event-driven architecture, and application performance

• Experience with production support, observability, and incident management

• Strong communication, technical decision-making, mentoring, and stakeholder management skills

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field

Preferred

• Chicago-area candidates

• Experience with enterprise-scale cloud modernization

• Experience with OpenSearch/Elasticsearch

• Experience with AI-assisted engineering tools

• Stable employment history and demonstrated long-term ownership of enterprise applications

• Willingness to travel occasionally as needed
