Role Summary

Fanatics Collect is looking for a Software Engineer, Android to help build and improve the tools, systems, and processes that keep our marketplace running smoothly.

In this role, you’ll work at the intersection of engineering and marketplace operations, developing Android solutions and internal tooling that help our teams support collectors, sellers, and day-to-day marketplace activity. You’ll investigate operational issues, improve workflows, automate repetitive processes, and build capabilities that make our teams more efficient and our customer experiences more reliable.

You’ll partner closely with engineers, product managers, and Marketplace Operations teams to understand operational challenges and translate them into scalable technical solutions.

This is a hands-on engineering role for someone who enjoys solving real-world problems, digging into how systems behave in production, and using technology to make complex processes simpler and more effective.

What You’ll Do

  • Develop, test, maintain, and improve Android applications and capabilities supporting Fanatics Collect and Marketplace Operations.

  • Build internal tools and technical solutions that help operational teams manage marketplace workflows more efficiently.

  • Partner with Marketplace Operations to understand pain points, identify root causes, and translate operational needs into technical solutions.

  • Investigate and resolve application and marketplace issues, including problems that span the Android experience and supporting systems.

  • Improve processes through automation, tooling, monitoring, and better access to the information teams need to resolve issues.

  • Identify recurring operational problems and develop solutions that reduce manual effort and prevent issues from repeating.

  • Debug production issues using logs, monitoring, analytics, and other diagnostic tools.

  • Collaborate with product managers and engineers to determine when an operational issue requires a technical solution, product improvement, or process change.

  • Write maintainable, well-tested code and participate in code reviews with other engineers.

  • Contribute to the reliability, performance, and maintainability of the Android application.

  • Participate in technical discussions and contribute ideas for improving architecture, tooling, development practices, and operational workflows.

  • Create and maintain documentation that helps engineering and operational teams understand tools, processes, and common issues.

  • Support the implementation and validation of solutions through development, testing, release, and production.

  • Balance planned engineering work with operational needs and emerging marketplace issues.

What We’re Looking For

  • Professional software engineering experience with a focus on Android application development.

  • Experience developing Android applications using Kotlin and modern Android development practices.

  • Understanding of Android application architecture, lifecycle, networking, data persistence, and user interface development.

  • Experience working with APIs and integrating mobile applications with backend services.

  • Familiarity with software testing, debugging, source control, code review, and modern development workflows.

  • Ability to investigate technical issues, identify root causes, and develop practical solutions.

  • Experience using logs, monitoring, analytics, or other diagnostic tools to understand application behavior.

  • Ability to take ownership of defined technical problems and drive them through resolution.

  • Sound judgment about when to solve a problem independently and when to engage other engineers or partners.

  • Strong collaboration and communication skills, particularly when working with non-engineering partners to understand operational problems.

  • An interest in improving processes and using automation to eliminate repetitive or inefficient work.

  • Ability to balance multiple priorities in a fast-moving environment.

  • Curiosity about marketplaces, commerce, collectibles, and the systems that support them.

What Success Looks Like

You’ll help make Fanatics Collect Marketplace Operations more scalable, reliable, and efficient .

Success in this role means operational teams have better tools to do their jobs, recurring issues become easier to identify and resolve, manual processes are reduced where appropriate, and marketplace problems are translated into durable technical improvements rather than one-time fixes.

You’ll develop a strong understanding of how the Collect marketplace operates and use that knowledge to identify where engineering can have the greatest impact.

About Fanatics Collect

Fanatics Collect brings multiple parts of the collecting experience together in one marketplace, giving collectors the ability to shop, vault, sell, and break in one place .

Collectors can browse and purchase collectibles, participate in Buy Now listings and curated auctions, manage vaulted collectibles, track activity such as bids and grading submissions, and access other services supporting their collections.

As the marketplace grows, the technology, tools, and operational processes behind these experiences are critical to creating a trusted and seamless experience for collectors.
