Job description

About the Role

We are seeking a C++ Software Engineer to develop reliable, high-performance software for autonomous driving systems. Strong C++ fundamentals and practical software engineering skills are the primary requirements. Prior motion planning experience is not required. Candidates may come from autonomous driving, robotics, embedded systems, simulation, perception infrastructure, or other performance-sensitive software backgrounds. New graduates with strong projects, internships, or research experience are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, test, and maintain production-quality C++ software for autonomous driving and robotics systems.

  • Build and improve real-time software components, data pipelines, APIs, and system interfaces.

  • Optimize latency, CPU and GPU usage, memory footprint, concurrency, and overall runtime performance.

  • Integrate software with perception, localization, mapping, planning, simulation, vehicle, or embedded subsystems based on project needs.

  • Diagnose complex system issues through debugging, profiling, log analysis, and root-cause investigation.

  • Develop unit, integration, and system-level tests to improve software quality, reliability, and maintainability.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams in the United States and China to define interfaces, review designs, and support integration.

  • Contribute to code reviews, technical documentation, engineering standards, and continuous improvement of the software development workflow.

Qualifications

  • B.S., M.S., or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field.

  • Strong proficiency in modern C++ and a solid understanding of object-oriented design, data structures, algorithms, memory management, and multithreading.

  • Strong debugging and problem-solving skills in Linux development environments.

  • Understanding of software engineering fundamentals, including version control, testing, code review, and maintainable system design.

  • Ability to communicate professionally in both Mandarin Chinese and English.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with autonomous driving, robotics, embedded systems, simulation, middleware, or other real-time systems.

  • Familiarity with Python, ROS or ROS2, DDS, CMake, Docker, CI/CD, or common profiling and debugging tools.

  • Exposure to one or more relevant domains such as perception, localization, mapping, planning, control, sensor processing, vehicle integration, or simulation.

  • Experience optimizing compute-intensive software or deploying algorithms into production C++ environments.
