Job description

Hire Score is seeking a Software Engineer to join a team supporting a $1B+ global organization and a broad, constantly changing technology landscape. Our client operates 40 locations throughout the U.S. and has operations in seven additional countries.

This is a full-time, remote position for candidates located within the Eastern or Central time zones, offering competitive compensation, excellent benefits, and career development opportunities.

Team Environment

Here you will find challenging work, a creative, fun work environment, leadership that supports an entrepreneurial spirit and a stellar track record of long-term employee retention. This is a small team supporting a very large organization, which means the engineers tend to wear multiple hats. One day you may be working inside the ERP. Next you may be debugging an API integration, writing SQL, building a web application, investigating an EDI issue, automating a business process, working with authentication, or figuring out why two systems disagree about the same transaction.

Rarely would you solve the exact same problem twice.

The expectation isnโ€™t that you already know everything, but that you are willing and able to figure things out.

Role Overview

This is not a role where you will work on the same application, technology, or type of problem every day. This team works across ERP, custom applications, APIs, integrations, databases, EDI, automation, cloud infrastructure, reporting, and emerging technologies such as AI.

Requirements are often intentionally high level. You may be given a business problem rather than a detailed technical specification and be expected to ask questions, investigate, understand the process, and determine the best way to solve it.

We are looking for someone with high degree of technical curiosity. The ideal candidate sees an unsolved problem as an annoyance that needs to be understood and fixed.

What You'll Do

:

  • Work directly with business users to translate business requirements into practical, scalable software solutions.

  • Design, develop, test, deploy, and support enterprise applications, web applications, APIs, services, and internal tools.

  • Develop and maintain solutions within Epicor Kinetic ERP and related enterprise applications, including customizations, BPMs, BAQs, Functions, Application Studio, APIs, and integrations.

  • Design and implement integrations between the Epicor ERP platform and customers, suppliers, EDI partners, 3PLs, SaaS platforms, and other enterprise systems.

  • Develop and support REST APIs, JSON-based integrations, and authentication technologies including OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect (OIDC), and Single Sign-On (SSO).

  • Design, develop, and troubleshoot SQL queries, stored procedures, views, and data integrations to support business applications and reporting.

  • Automate business processes, streamline workflows, and reduce manual effort across enterprise systems.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues spanning applications, APIs, databases, infrastructure, networks, and third-party systems, taking ownership from investigation through implementation and production support.

  • Participate in code reviews, source control management, testing, documentation, deployment, and continuous improvement activities.

  • Research, evaluate, and implement emerging technologies that provide measurable business value.

  • Share knowledge and collaborate closely with engineering, IT, and business teams.

Core Qualifications:

Experience

  • 2-7 years of professional software development experience with a strong understanding of software engineering fundamentals, including application architecture, databases, APIs, and enterprise system integrations.

  • Experience developing enterprise business applications and web-based solutions through application customization, REST API development, SQL data management, system integrations, and business process automation, with a focus on security, data exchange, system interoperability, and performance optimization.

  • Experience developing enterprise applications using several of the following technologies: frontend development (Angular, JavaScript/TypeScript), APIs and integrations (REST APIs, JSON), authentication and identity technologies (OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, SSO), backend development (C#/.NET, Node.js, Java, or Python), and database technologies (Microsoft SQL Server, T-SQL).

Attributes

  • Curious problem solver with strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to investigate issues through code, data, APIs, logs, and business processes.

  • Ability to understand and translate business requirements into effective technical solutions.

  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a small, cross-functional team.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Bonus Points For:

  • Development experience within Epicor Kinetic ERP, including familiarity with Epicor BPMs, BAQs, Functions, Application Studio, and the Epicor data model.

  • Experience with manufacturing, distribution, supply chain, EDI, or other enterprise business systems.

  • Experience with one or more of the following technologies:

Enterprise integration platforms (e.g., EDI, middleware, iPaaS, or integration management solutions)

Cloud and infrastructure technologies (Microsoft Azure, Linux, Docker/containerization)

Source control and collaboration tools (Git, GitHub)

Reporting and analytics solutions (Power BI, enterprise reporting tools)

AI/LLM APIs and AI-assisted development tools
