Job description

Software Engineer

Role Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain scalable software applications and services.

  • Build reliable, secure, and high-performing features across the software development lifecycle.

  • Translate product requirements, technical specifications, and business needs into maintainable software solutions.

  • Collaborate with product managers, designers, quality assurance engineers, and other developers to deliver features from concept through production.

  • Develop and maintain RESTful APIs, backend services, integrations, and data-processing workflows.

  • Build responsive and user-friendly application interfaces when required.

  • Write clean, modular, reusable, and well-documented code following established engineering standards.

  • Participate in architecture discussions, technical design reviews, sprint planning, and code reviews.

  • Troubleshoot production issues, identify root causes, and implement long-term corrective solutions.

  • Improve application performance, reliability, scalability, observability, and security.

  • Create and maintain unit, integration, and automated tests to ensure software quality.

  • Work with relational or NoSQL databases, including schema design, query optimization, and data integrity.

  • Support continuous integration and continuous deployment processes.

  • Monitor deployed applications using logging, monitoring, and alerting tools.

  • Identify technical debt and contribute to improvements in engineering practices, tooling, and developer productivity.

  • Provide technical guidance and constructive feedback to junior engineers when appropriate.

  • Maintain awareness of emerging technologies and recommend improvements that support business and product objectives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or master's degree in computer science, software engineering, information technology, or a related technical field.

  • 3–5 years of professional software development experience.

  • Strong programming experience in at least one modern language such as Java, Python, JavaScript, TypeScript, C#, Go, or C++.

  • Experience developing production-grade web applications, backend services, APIs, or distributed systems.

  • Strong understanding of data structures, algorithms, object-oriented programming, and software design principles.

  • Experience with modern application frameworks such as React, Angular, Vue.js, Node.js, Spring Boot, .NET, Django, Flask, or similar technologies.

  • Proficiency in designing, consuming, and maintaining RESTful APIs.

  • Experience working with relational databases such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQL Server, or Oracle.

  • Working knowledge of NoSQL databases, caching technologies, or message queues.

  • Experience using Git and participating in collaborative development workflows.

  • Familiarity with automated testing, debugging, code reviews, and software quality practices.

  • Understanding of cloud platforms such as AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.

  • Familiarity with Docker, containerized applications, and CI/CD pipelines.

  • Ability to analyze technical problems and deliver practical, maintainable solutions.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a cross-functional Agile team.

  • Demonstrated ownership of assigned features, defects, and production issues from identification through resolution.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related discipline.

  • Experience designing or supporting microservices, event-driven systems, or distributed applications.

  • Hands-on experience with Kubernetes, Terraform, or other infrastructure and orchestration tools.

  • Experience with cloud-native services, serverless architectures, or managed cloud databases.

  • Knowledge of authentication and authorization standards such as OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, JWT, or role-based access control.

  • Experience with messaging and streaming platforms such as Kafka, RabbitMQ, Amazon SQS, or similar technologies.

  • Familiarity with observability tools such as Datadog, Splunk, Grafana, Prometheus, New Relic, or CloudWatch.

  • Experience optimizing applications for performance, scalability, availability, and cost efficiency.

  • Understanding of secure software development practices and common application security risks.

  • Experience working in a product-based, SaaS, fintech, healthcare, e-commerce, or high-growth technology environment.

  • Exposure to artificial intelligence, machine learning, large language model integrations, or AI-assisted product features.

  • Experience mentoring junior engineers or contributing to technical standards and engineering documentation.

  • Familiarity with Agile development methodologies, including Scrum or Kanban.

  • Experience taking features from initial requirement discovery through design, implementation, deployment, monitoring, and iteration.

Pay: $132,286.21 - $145,157.34 per year
